Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Rudy was one the most sincere person we ever met. As a great homestay father, he corrected our English grammar on every e-mail we sent to him. He always talked to us in slow and very clear fashion to make sure we understand him. He cooked extremely delicious food for us like we are the most important guests; we missed his Beijing roasted duck! We shared opinions about random things on TV for hours at usual random night. Rudy, you are our truly lovely friend. After so many years, we still send post card to each other, and yes, we were so happy every time you send us gifts! Remember the time you came to Taiwan and spent the Chinese New Year with us? We were so excited to show you around and introduced you to our family and friends. You were loved. You were missed. Goodbye, our Canadian friend. - Posted by: Allen Lai, Bob Lai and Lai's family (Friends and students) on: Dec 21, 2012

  • Rudy, I will miss you forever. You are so kind to my family since I met you in 1999. After you moved to Winnipeg from Calgary, you came to visit my family once a year and stayed at my house overnight. we had a good time always. I will always remember your advice and kindness. God bless you. now you are at peace - Posted by: Agnes Pai (Very close friend) on: Dec 20, 2012

  • This is one of the worst news i ever heard. Rudy was a such nice man. He is the first Canadian I know after i came to Calgary. He helped me a lot on english study and taught me the life in Canada. We only lived together for several months, but i will always remember the days i spent with him. He is not only a friend for me but also a teacher and a father. Although Rudy passed away unexpectedly, he left a large impact on me and others. I will miss Rudy, but I will not forget all the kindness he has shown to all of us. - Posted by: Junyi Xu (Student) on: Dec 19, 2012

  • Rudy had changed so much of my life. I knew him when I first came to Calgary as an international student in 2003, he was my landlord. He taught me so much and generously gave me his support for me to start my academic path in Canada. After he moved to Winnipeg, we kept in touch all these years and he offered me countless useful advises and being like a father to me. He will always be one of the most significant persons in my life; I will always miss him and treasure the kindness he taught me on how to treat people and helping others. - Posted by: Bo Li (student ) on: Dec 19, 2012

  • I worked with Rudy for 15 years in the Calgary Catholic School District. In that time I knew instantly what a true professional he was. He was a hard working, enlightened man who loved his work. His ability to focus on what was important and his creative insights were highly valued. He was a humble man with a great sense of humor. Rudy was a wonderful, gentle human being. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Rest in Peace Rudy... - Posted by: Lionel Bellavance (Colleague) on: Dec 10, 2012

  • I knew Rudy for 17 years when he and I worked from St. Leo's Centre in Calgary. I felt privileged to work as part of his team for the last 6 years of that time. Rudy was unfailingly kind and generous with his extensive professional knowledge. He was interested in the people around him and made our work fun. He always had a ready anecdote or joke to tell. I will miss Rudy deeply. He was an integral part of our group, and I always treasured his presence at our annual "lobster fests" and Christmas parties. - Posted by: Joanne Roy (Colleague from the Calgary Catholic School Board) on: Dec 10, 2012

  • Rudy was a significant mentor to me as I started my career as a school psychologist. His passion for working with young people was remarkable and his knowledge of special needs was also very admired. I enjoyed being part of the team, with Rudy, and spending many annual 'lobster fests' and Christmas celebrations with him. He will be truly missed from our special team and a place will always be made in our hearts and memories. - Posted by: Barbara Patterson (Colleague from the Calgary Catholic School Board) on: Dec 08, 2012
