KATHLEEN CORP DANIELS (nee KEEN) May 31, 1920 - December 2, 2012 Kathleen (Kitty) Daniels passed away peacefully on December 2 at Vista Park Lodge, at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her husband Russell (1974) and her three siblings, Richard Keen, Jim Keen and Grace Murray. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her daughter Donna Foskett (Bob); son Greg Daniels (Jane); her grand-children, Bryan (Kathy), Kim (Terry), Kate and Patrick; her great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sidney, Anna and Sara, and by her only surviving sibling Harry Keen (Marge). Kitty was born in Winnipeg on May 31, 1920 to Grace and Harry Keen. She grew up on the family farm in High Bluff and then later in Raeburn, Manitoba. Kitty married Russell Daniels in 1943 while he was in the Navy as a 1st Class Stoker and later Petty Officer during the Second World War. Their wedding ceremony took place on the HMCS St. Boniface in Port Arthur, Ontario. While Russ was at sea on the Atlantic, Kitty worked for the United Grain Growers in Winnipeg. When he was later stationed in Victoria, Kitty managed a bake shop there. After raising their family, she worked for the T. Eaton Co. in Winnipeg in the 1980s. In her younger years, Kitty was an active volunteer in the community. She was a member of the Ladies' Universal Council of Engineers and eventually became President. Kitty loved her gardening and even more so, her family. She was a loving, kind, and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She felt that one of her greatest accomplishments was living long enough to see the birth of four beautiful great-grandchildren. Never one to complain about her own lot in life, Kitty was more apt to worry about the well-being of the family farm, the Bombers or the Jets. She never wanted to be a bother to anyone and always made an effort to look on the sunny side of life. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Vista Park Lodge for their kind and compassionate care. Kitty often remarked how well cared for and at home she felt there. A celebration of Kitty's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from the Brookside Cemetery). Flowers are gratefully declined. The family would be honored to have a donation made in her memory to one of the following: Canadian Diabetes Association, https://ocp.diabetes.ca/OD /csCustomerDonation.asp or mailing address 200 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or Vista Park Lodge, 144 Nova Vista Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2N 1P8. • my deepest sympathy goes out to the family - Posted by: Phil Verplaetse (friend of family) on: Dec 10, 2012

  • I have the best memories of growing up next door to the Daniels on Handyside. Kitty always made me welcome in their home where she would make Donna & I tea parties. Kitty and my mom would make us matching doll clothes for Donna & my dolls. The entire family made me feel like one of them. I am truly sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Janis Hutchinson (grew up next door) on: Dec 09, 2012
