JOHN HENRY WIEBE August 2, 1927 - December 8, 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, John Henry Wiebe at the age of 85. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Mary, daughters Shirley O'Neill (Bill), and Bev Collicutt (Greg), son Rick (Jenell); grandchildren David, Justin, Drew and Peri; brother Dick, sister Helen, in-laws, many nieces, nephews and friends. John was predeceased by his parents Deidrich and Tina Wiebe, his brother Hank Wiebe and sister Kae Friesen and infant son David Ralph. Dad was born in Burwalde, MB and spent his early years working the family farm. In his early 20s he married, moved to Winnipeg, and started a family but took every opportunity to drive back home to visit family and friends in the Winkler/Morden area. The love of farming stayed in his heart and he faithfully planted a full vegetable and flower garden every Spring. Summer vacations were a yearly highlight and took us across Canada and the U.S. pulling the family tent trailer. For most of his working career Dad worked for Automotive Accessories Ltd. as a Die cast operator. Our Dad was a man of few words, but there was never any doubt he would be there for us, whatever the need might be. Family was a top priority to Dad and in his later years he took great interest in the accomplishments in his grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 11:30 to 12:15 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, with interment following the viewing at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church, 200 McIvor Ave. Thank you to staff on N1 at Concordia Hospital for your care and compassion. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Family Life Network or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
