JUSTINA BRAUN June 21, 1916 December 5, 2012 Justine, peacefully and quietly slipped away on angels wings to heaven in her 97th year on this earth, with her daughter Verna by her side. She goes to rejoin family members who have gone before. They include her husband Abe K., who predeceased her on August 11, 2011, son Kenneth (Jan 2009), brothers Henry and Peter and her parents Peter D. and Elizabeth Berg. Justine is survived by her children Verna Tribula, Shirley (Walter) Syslak, Gordon (Geertje) Braun, daughter in-law Cheryl (Ken's wife) Braun, Grace (Henry) Hildebrand and Dennis (Deanna) Braun. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Sadie Braun, brother John (Judith) Berg and sister in-law Anne Berg (Peter). Justine was born in Southern Manitoba near Rosenfeld on June 21, 1916. She married Abe K. Braun on November 14, 1937. They made their first home in Rosenfeld and then moved to Altona. After Abe retired, they moved to Winnipeg. Justine was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed doing hand work, reading (until her eyesight failed), and music. Justine and Abe's travels took them to Europe, Hawaii, Florida and many parts of Canada to visit family. Although she endured physical hardships and much discomfort in the last two years of life, she was always steadfast in her faith. She has truly earned her just rewards. We, your family will miss you, but, we are grateful we had you in our lives for all those years. Rest in peace Mom---we will always love you. The family also wants to thank all the staff on the 2nd floor of Misericordia Place for the attentive care they gave to Justine during her time spent with them. Thanks also to the Pastoral Care members for their spiritual nurturing and prayers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg. Dear Verna and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you as you remember the times spent with your mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and great grandmother.
