KENNETH ROYDON CORBY January 9, 1935 - December 9, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Kenneth Roydon Corby on December 9, 2012 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Ken is survived by his loving children Jo-Ann and her husband Craig Jocelyn (Lexi), Doug, Susan and her husband Craig Perkins (Tyson and Scott). He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Janette Grace Corby (nee Will), and his parents Nora and Roydon Corby. Ken lived in Winnipeg, specifically St. James his entire life. He was employed at Great West Life for 38 years where he retired in 1992. After their retirements Ken and Jan spent numerous years volunteering at Fort Whyte Alive where they made many friends and thoroughly enjoyed every single minute. Ken had an immense passion for all sports. He played numerous competitive sports over the years including fastball with Great West Life Industrial League, Kiewels White Seals and Manitoba Clothing. One of Ken's most cherished awards was being inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame in 2004. His love of sport was continued through coaching his children in hockey and baseball for many years. He also loved watching his grandchildren's sports including hockey, swimming, soccer and track. Through his love of sport Dad has made many lifelong friendships and had so many memories that he truly was thankful for. As a family we were fortunate to spend 35 years at our cabin at Lester Beach. This was truly Mom and Dad's happiest place on earth and they would spend as much time as possible at the beach and spending time with family and friends while appreciating nature. Ken had an unconditional love for his dogs and was never without one of his many trusted "friends". Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. If friends and family so desire, a donation may be made in Ken's memory to Fort Whyte Centre or Winnipeg Humane Society. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. My heart is broken to hear of coach's passing. I have so many memories - I can't even begin to put them all down in words. Jo, Doug and Sue, my heart goes out to you all at this very sad time. The ball team, especially coach, was such a huge part of my teen years and I treasure every memory - even the duck walks around the field. Our times at the cabin are stories that I still share today. Your Dad was an amazing man and he will be greatly missed. He taught me so much more than the game of ball. Sadly, I cannot be there for the funeral but I will be there in spirit. May you rest in peace coach. - Posted by: Angie Ziefflie (Lemoine) (Family friend) on: Dec 12, 2012
