LILY BODNAR December 14, 1923 December 7, 2012 With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Lily Bodnar at the Riverview Health Centre on December 7, 2012, following a difficult battle with cancer. Left to forever cherish her memory are her son, Doug (Diane) Bodnar; son-in-law, John Poturnak; three grandchildren, Hollie (Tony) Bodnar, Graham (Patti) Bodnar, Kristopher (Jackie) Poturnak ; great-grandchild Naomi Lily Poturnak; her one remaining sister Ivy Allan; along with numerous nephews and nieces. Mom was predeceased by her daughter, Roberta Poturnak in March of this year; husband, Peter in October, 1981; brother, Charlie; sisters, Ethel, Eddie, Iris, and Violet; along with numerous other family members and friends. Mom was born and lived her life in Winnipeg. She worked for the Red River Co-op in the meat department for many years. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was always very much a part of all of our lives. Mom lived a long life and now has peacefully and joyfully joined her daughter, husband and family. In compliance with Mom's wishes there will be no formal funeral service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Cancer Care and Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion, as well as her sister Ivy, niece Marlene, and friends in Inkster Garden Apartments. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lily's memory to the Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
