JAMES DOMENCO It is with profound sadness that my sister, Patricia Lindsey and her husband Steve, and myself Christine Marie Kaiser announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Dad, James ("John Jimmy") Domenco, on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg. Dad was born in Oak Hammock, Manitoba on January 16, 1922. He was the second of 16 children. He is finally with our Mom (Anastasia Nellie Domenco) the Love of his life, who we lost in 2003, and daughter Maureen, who died in 1978. As Dad always imagined, they are all together again in Heaven, watching over the ones left behind. Dad was also predeceased by his parents, Norman and Annie, many brothers and sisters (Max, Mary, Nicky, Katie, Doreen, Annie, Lloydie, and beloved brothers Eddie, Richard and Roger) and my late husband Henry. Left to mourn his loss are his daughters Patricia and Christine, sisters Patricia and Jenny, brothers Allan and Larry, grandchildren James and Richard, and great-grandchildren Jennifer, Jamie, Jesse, Jacklynne, Chasen, Auriauna and Madisyn. Mom and Dad married on July 19, 1941 and began their many amazing adventures which included a 3,000 acre ranch called the "Diamond D" that had cattle, chickens and horses including Arabians, which led Dad to venture into horse racing at Assiniboia Downs. Jimmy was also a commercial fisherman from the age of 15, working up north in Grand Rapids with the Einarsons and the Magnussons from Hnausa, Manitoba. At one point he joined the Army, was trained at Camp Shilo, fought bravely in the War and brought home many medals. Later, Mom and Dad delved into the world of real estate, buying many properties in the North end of Winnipeg, including apartment blocks and even a Chinese restaurant. Eventually Dad got into the car business (at one point he owned three car lots in the city), with Mom and I selling cars too (he was so proud when he gave me my first commission when I was only 15). Dad's hobbies included fishing, camping, hunting, snowmobiling, horse racing and playing many musical instruments (which he learned by ear) including the violin, accordion and harmonica. He played many a barn dance and countless weddings. Dad also spent much time in Garden Grove and Salton Sea, California, with him and Mom staying there with my sister Patsy for 23 winters and happily he was able to do that the last four years of his life as well. We had a cottage in Ponemah Beach for 30 years and we made many friends there, especially from Winnipeg Beach. Dad was also an avid story-teller, a practical joker and also occasionally played Santa. He once had a huge Santa sleigh and picked up all of my friends with the snowmobile and sleigh and went riding every weekend. He would take us over to my sister's for hot chocolate and then back home, all in the sleigh. He will be missed by all who knew him. Prayers will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m., also at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Interment to follow. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
