Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR HALL EMMS October 26, 1926 - December 13, 2012 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather (Papa Art). Arthur leaves to mourn his four daughters Lorraine (Allan) Dyck, Beverly (Al) Lindsay, Margaret (Roy) Chartrand and Diana (Mike) Friesen, daughter-in-law Sally Emms. Grandchildren Barb Dyck, Brennen and Christian, Aaron (Jody) Ansell, Darren and Desiree, Clayton (Jackie) Emms, Devon and Megan, Carl (Angela) Dyck, Quinn and Yannick, Tammy Moody, Chantelle and Katelyn, Patrick (Hailie) Emms, Kaleb, Jodie Chartrand, Ashton, Amanda (Michael) Place, Mackenzie, Shane (Stephanie) Emms, Ainsley and Taylor, Candace (Brad) Procter, Alyssa - Lynn, Bryn - Lee, Heather (Rob), Campbell, Lily and Arthur Emms. One remaining brother Alfred, sister-in-law Florence Shettler, numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his wife Lillian, infant son and son Bruce, grandson Trevor Plishka. Mother and Father Alfred and Catherine Emms, Brothers Donald, Ernest, Eddie, David, George and Bert, Sisters May, Ida, Annie and Sarah. Dad was born in Ideal, MB, by attending midwife Hildur Zeller in the family home. Dad worked side by side with his father farming and was a constant help to his older brothers getting them established. Dad joined the RCA Reserves in 1943, at the age of 17. In 1947, Dad married the love of his life Lillian (Walker). Dad worked with his brother-in-law Gordon Gage on steel construction but soon returned to the farm life that he longed for. He moved back to Ideal where he raised his family and farmed until 1979. He then took employment at the Northern Goose processing plant in Teulon, MB. He also worked with his sons-in-law Roy and Mike helping out with construction and carpentry. Art was a very loving father, husband, brother, friend and neighbor. He gave unconditionally always putting others before himself. Dad loved his life in Ideal and has no desire for greener pastures. He loved farming, especially haying and cutting cord wood. A healthy new born calf was the highlight of his day. Dad displayed the same care and kindness for his animals that he did for people. He started his day at 5:00 a.m. whistling while walking out to the barn as the animals were to be attended prior to himself. Dad enjoyed hunting and the camaraderie it brought. He looked forward to visits from his family and the feasts Mom would prepare for holidays and birthdays. It was funny how the noise level never bothered him; after all they were just kids. Accompanying his girls to local dances was another highlight. He loved a good time, lively fiddle music was his favorite type and the Red River Jig being his #1 hit. For the past nine years Dad battled with the infirmities bought on by Alzheimer's. Even thru this his gentle spirit never wavered. Thank you Dad for giving us all that you had and all that you were. Special thanks to the Lundar PCH staff for their kindness and compassion shown to Dad and us. If family or friends so desire, donations can be made in Arthur's memory to the Alzheimer's Society or the Lundar Personal Care Home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel 433 Main Street, Stonewall. Interment to follow at Inwood Community Cemetery.
