Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRMA ANNA CHRISTINA HIEBERT ( nee BUSCH ) November 20, 1919 - December 11, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great- grandmother at the age of 93 on December 11, 2012. Irma passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side. Irma was predeceased by her husband Peter of 47 years in 2000, in Winnipeg and by her sister Leni, brother Wilhelm, and parents in Germany. She is survived by her three children: Jacqueline (Theo) Schulz, Peter W. Hiebert and Nancy Pauls; her grandchildren and extended family: Kendra, Graeme (Julie), Karla (Megan), Evan, Anna (Cameron), Dorota (Sathish), Henry and Michael; her great-grandchildren Isaiah, Otto-Angelo and Kala; her nieces Maria and Emily (Walter) and their families, and her many family and friends in Germany. Irma was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1919. She grew up in a vibrant family and was an integral part of the family manufacturing firm. Irma came to Canada in 1953 to start a new life. She soon married her beloved Pete. Irma was a supportive wife and mother, travelling with Pete in the RCAF and encouraging her children to excel in all their endeavours. She was an active community volunteer with the WSO, the UCW, the MB Opera Society and many other organizations. In retirement there was more time for travel, enjoying classical and contemporary music, the ballet, the symphony, the opera and her grandchildren. Irma was a doting grandmother, spending hours listening to and exhorting her beloved grosskinder. Her delight multiplied with the arrival of the great-grand kids. In 2002, Irma moved in with her daughter Nancy, where she thrived in the lively atmosphere. During these last 10 years of her life she was surrounded by family and friends. Irma's presence was a joy and inspiration to the household and the neighbourhood. It was her long felt desire to die in her home surrounded by family. Irma's family feels blessed to have walked this journey with her. The family wishes to give their heartfelt thanks to the WRHA Palliative Care Program. Their support was invaluable. Many thanks also to Rebecca and Maryann for their daily attentive care. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 232 Home Street, Winnipeg from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for all friends and family. Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home at 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg.
