FRANZ (FRANK) JOSEF GUNTHER
Date of Passing: Dec 12, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANZ (FRANK) JOSEF GUNTHER Suddenly on December 12, 2012 at 84 years young, our beloved Papa peacefully passed away with his family by his side at the Grace Hospital. He is predeceased by his Lady Love Louise McLean. He is survived by his loving children, James McLean (Reva) his children Jennifer, Michelle and Dale; Susan McLean her children Roberta and Michael; Debbie McLean her children, Rhonda and Trina; Heidi Widish (Darcie) her children Patricia and Leslie. Frank also had eleven great-grandchildren that he loved to be around at any opportunity. Frank came to Canada in 1951. He held numerous jobs, just some of which included Lumber Jack, Butcher, Cook, Truck Driver and when he met our Mother Louise he was a Painter. He was also a self employed Carpet and Tile Installer until he retired at 73. Papa loved to do crosswords, find that gem of a sale, watch any sport on TV, but mostly loved to go to the Bingo Hall and then stop by a Mac's to buy those ever frustrating scratch tickets. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Grace Hospital for the kindness, compassion and respect shown to our Papa. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to a cause of your choice, or to the special cause of the family, Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Division. A private family interment will take place at a later date. We would like to invite you all to join the Family in an informal Celebration of Frank's life at the St. James Legion Lodge, 2730 Ness Ave. in the lounge on Monday, December 17, 2012, between 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bring your favourite story and share it with us. It's been about 40 years now and I remember Frank and Louise so well. They ran the canteen at the War Amps Club and were two of the nicest people you could ever meet. We had so many good times back then. So sorry we all lost touch when we moved away. Hugs to Susan and Debbie. - Posted by: Trueman and Linda Sanford (Campbell River BC) (Friends) on: Feb 20, 2013

Grandpa Frank was the nicest man ever! I will never forget when i was about 5 or 6 years old and i had decided it was a good idea to stick my tongue onto a chain link fence when we lived out in QuailRidge. I must have been stuck there for about 30 minutes, all of a sudden out of know where, came the big white and rustic van or was it the blue and rustic van, cant remember, but anyway, driving down silver, came my gramps to the rescue. He saved me from in my opinion, the worst 5 year old experience ever. He was always kind, funny, positive and was always there for you if he could help. I love you gramps and you will be missed! - Posted by: Bobbie (Granddaughter) on: Dec 17, 2012
