GERALD (JERRY) PODOLSKY It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald (Jerry) Podolsky on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the age of 69. Survived by his son Nicholas, brother Douglas and his many cousins of the Parada family. He will be missed so dearly by all the lives he shared a part of. Jerry was a devoted father who spent many summers undivided with his son Nicholas (Nick). After retirement, Jerry took enjoyment engaging in the many local car shows here in Winnipeg and catching up at Eddy's Place pool hall where he had many longtime friends and fond memories. Jerry was happiest and found great pleasure fishing with his cousins Ron and Norman in Comox, B.C. and as per his wishes will be spread across those same waters. A Memorial Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Winnipeg Humane Society in his name would be greatly appreciated. 204-586-8044

Jerry and I were good pals right up to the bitter end. The hunting and fishing trips to Lac du Bonnet, that we enjoyed as kids, and carried on into our retirement years, will always be remembered. More recent fishing trips on Vancouver Island, where we spent many hours sitting by the campfire at Rupert Inlet (with a glass of wine of course) Those spectacular clear nights with a million stars always amazed Jer. as did the singing line from his reel when a salmon would take his lure and "Head to Japan!" Tight Lines and Rest in Peace Jer. - Posted by: Ron Douglas (Cousin (Our Moms were sisters)) on: Dec 20, 2012

Nick, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. I bowled in a league with Jerry for some time and of course conversed about you and BJ during your school years. Take care of yourself; your Dad will be in your heart always. - Posted by: Marion Groce (mother of Nick's friend BJ) on: Dec 18, 2012

Am so saddened to learn as to Jerry's passing......always friendly.....considerate.....and past years always met him on his daily walks. We grew up in the same neighbourhood next door to each other.........and kept watch over each other....was a great childhood having him and Douglas next door. We had many celebrations together and were always welcomed by his parents Bill & Jessie. His life revolved around his son Nicholas whom he was very proud of. Deepest sympathy Nicholas, Douglas & family. Gone too soon, rest in peace Jerry. Fran Yurkiw (Smith) - Posted by: Fran Yurkiw (Smith) (friend and neighbour) on: Dec 17, 2012

Jerry was a good and compassionate friend and willing to help anyone in need. We spent many Saturday mornings going to garage sales and to this day every time I see Hot Wheels, marbles, and those little candy things I can never remember the name of and music boxes I think of him. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace Jerry, until we all meet again. - Posted by: Sharon Baril (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2012
