JENNIE STUPARYK It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Jennie Stuparyk, on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Riverview Health Centre with family by her side. Left to cherish her memory are son James (Milka), daughter Joan (Rick) and their children, Jeff (Deanna), Adam (Eliza), and four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Griffin and Aubrey. Mom was predeceased by her husband Jim, father and mother Joseph and Josefa Mroz, sister Mary Dudych and brother Joe Mroz. Mom came to Canada by boat from Poland to start life in Beausejour. From there she moved to Winnipeg where her father ran a blacksmith shop. As a teenager, while working as a babysitter/nanny she met her future husband Jim. Once married, she worked for a few years at Perths laundry and then stayed home to raise their children. She was a stay at home mom who not only raised her own kids, but also two grandkids and cared for her own mother in her home. Once all of these extra family members moved on she was able to retire and enjoy community activities with dad. When Dad became ill, she had to drop a lot of the activities she had come to enjoy. After his death she went back to work with a rather busy calendar. Mom was very involved in the community. When the Neighbourhood Improvement Program came to Brooklands, she joined in order to make Brooklands a better place to live. She was involved with the churches in both Brooklands and Weston and supported all the teas, rummage and bake sales. Once the Brooklands Seniors Centre was built she became involved in that as well where she formed many long-lasting friendships and enjoyed many dances there. She also worked at the Blue Bird Lodge helping at mealtimes. The whole family will miss Mom's homemade perogies (specials) and oven baked macaroni and cheese. These were our special treats that Mom would make for all family gatherings and would whip up a batch for you if you dropped the slightest hint. Mom had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humour. She could take a rib and give one back. Her unconditional love, care and support for family will always be remembered. We love you and miss you Mom. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. Our Moms were also school chums. My Mom passed December 18, 2004 - nice to think that perhaps she was there to greet Jennie, share a pot of tea and talk about the old days! So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Coral Hetherington (Bannister) (childhood friend to Joan) on: Dec 20, 2012

  • We were neighbours (on Gallagher) all throughout my childhood and until I got married at 20. She was always out and about and always stopped to talk to her neighbours and friends. We are so very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Marlene (Brown) Jamieson (neighbour and friend) on: Dec 18, 2012
