EDITH VERONICA ROSIN 1921 2012 Peacefully, with family by her side, Edith Rosin passed away on December 17, 2012. Edith is survived by her children, Wayne (Angela) and Kathy Cox, grandchildren, David, Aynsley, Megan (Cameron), Scott, Graham, and Duncan, as well as great-grandchildren, Cameron and Mylee, and her sister Theresa. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, William (Bill), parents, Theodore and Amelia (Plischke) Kotschorek, and siblings. Mary, Frank (Theresa), and Anna (George) Hutter. Born April 13, 1921 in Winnipeg, Granny was widowed at the early age of 51. She had not worked outside the home from the time she was married until Dad become ill, and then re-entered the workforce, learning computer skills and how to drive in order to help provide for her children still at home. An unsung heroine, she devoted her life selflessly to others. She was the primary caregiver to her parents until their passing as well as a number of others who depended upon her. But Granny's greatest joy was in her children and grandchildren to whom she meant the world. Sunday dinners at Granny's were the family ritual until she was 79 when a tumble down a flight of stairs resulted in serious injury and an extended stay in hospital. Despite the admonition of the professionals that, You might as well give away her apartment, as she will never be going home , she did in fact go home and lived independently for another six years, complete with her traditional Sunday dinners. In 2006, Granny moved to the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home where she continued to care for others to the best of her ability and where she received exemplary care from devoted staff. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Edith's life at St. Alphonsus Church, (Munroe and Brazier) on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Cropo Funeral Chapel. Flowers are gratefully declined. 204-586-8044

I volunteered at Bethania a few years back and my first day I got to spend it with her, everytime the staff would ask me to spend time with other residents I would always find my way back to Edith - Posted by: Melissa () on: Dec 28, 2012
