LILLIAN FRIESEN
Born: Aug 10, 1936
Date of Passing: Dec 19, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN FRIESEN On December 19, 2012, Lillian went to be with the Lord and join her husband, Kenneth. She is survived by her brother Alvin (Marion), children David, Susanne (Marc), Robert (Sheryl) and Paul and many nieces and nephews. She was most proud of her grandchildren Justin, Christopher, Kyle, Kade and Kyra. Lillian was born in Markinch, SK, on August 10, 1936. She was the oldest daughter of Dan and Alma Weisbrot. Mom was the consummate homemaker, staying home to care for the house and children. Mom was always ready with coffee and baking. She was very involved in her church throughout her life, most recently St. James Lutheran Church. For many years she headed up the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) program, organizing Christmas hampers, baking and cooking for the church. When her health first failed, she took up driving as her ministry. Mom would volunteer to pick up anyone. Her greatest pleasure was to drive her friends shopping, to appointments or church activities. Mom said on the day she died that her greatest dream in life was to see her children grow and get married and see her grandchildren grow up. She completed her goal. We wish to thank the medical and nursing staff on A4 at Health Sciences Centre. A special thanks to Nadia, Zoreen, Norma, Alma our doctor Lissa and especially Roger for fixing Mom's chair. Very special thanks to Mom's roommate, Sharon, for the last three weeks. Your patience, chats and calming presence was so appreciated. Many memories, tears, family members and food was shared. Thank you to Pastor Schnaar for all his time attending to mom and being with her during her last moment. Memorial services will be on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Dr. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. James Lutheran Church Mortgage Fund. I was very sorry to hear of Lillian's passing as I was her cleaning lady for over 6 years. We always seemed to have a good laugh every visit and I really enjoyed her company. My mother Ruth Matthews also knew Lillian and we both would like to send our condolences to the family. - Posted by: Jennifer Earle (Cleaning lady) on: Dec 24, 2012

A very special Aunt who always had time for family. I would call Aunt Lillian every Christmas Eve no matter what city I was living in and she was always so happy I did - I'll miss that chat today. Many fond memories - she'll be missed. - Posted by: Norma-Jeanne (Niece) on: Dec 24, 2012

A special friend...my first friend at St. James....a pillar of church life... How I will miss you!!! I will always remember your beautiful voice as you seemed to know every hymn as we approached the communion rail....You never complained but that cane told me that you were hurting somewhere...Is there a committee that you did not serve on?? A true Christian sister, showing the love of Christ through her life...rest in peace....in the certainty of Eternal Life!! - Posted by: LIISA JOHNSON (FRIEND FROM CHURCH) on: Dec 23, 2012

Lillian and I became friends in Greenwood NS where our husbands were stationed. We stayed in touch over the years and for a while were neighbors in Winnipeg. I will always remember her as a good friend, a wonderful cook and that she had a good sense of humor. Tom and I will both miss her. Our hearts and prayers are with her family. - Posted by: Jan Lloyd (Friend) on: Dec 23, 2012

Lillian will be missed at church each Sunday. One of my most poignant memories was a Christmas Eve over 35 yrs ago. We were singing the 1st verse of Silent Night acapella (sp?) and Pastor K asked Lillian to start the congregation off and she did auf deutsch with a powerful and beautiful voice. - Posted by: Warren Otto () on: Dec 22, 2012

So sorry to hear about your moms death. We sat together during Bible studies in church and I even purchased her recliner and got to see her beautiful condo that she really enjoyed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. Love Glenn and Darlene Jorundson. - Posted by: Glenn and Darlene Jorundson (friends from church) on: Dec 22, 2012
