MARY ELIZABETH CONROY (née LYNCH) May 5, 1939 - December 22, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Mother-in-law and Grandmother, Mary. Mum was born in Limerick, Ireland, and grew up in Ennistymon. After finishing school, she moved to Galway, where she met her husband and best friend, John, while working at the Bank of Ireland. They married in September of 1963, and moved to Winnipeg. Mary is survived by Allan (Barb) and Alison (Don), as well as her daughter-in-law Carol and her seven grandchildren: Séan, Sarah, Eric, Liam, Marcus, Andrew and Ian. She was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Honora Lynch, mother and father-in-law, John C. and Mary F. Conroy, brother-in-law Patrick (Paddy) Conroy, as well as her husband, John and eldest son, David. Mum had many activities and interests, including her dance-aerobics classes, book club and sewing. Many of Mum's friends would bring their mending and hemming to her to do for them. Her friends and family will long remember her flair for cooking and hospitality, too. Mum and Dad were both active members of their parish, even sitting on the parish council together. Mum especially loved spending time with her family and friends, and took great delight in her grandchildren. Mum had a very difficult time adjusting to life without Dad after his death in February of 2000, and was diagnosed a few short years later with Alzheimer's disease. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the John Conroy Memorial Scholarship in Biology (care of the University of Winnipeg) or to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 28, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford Street. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in charge of arrangements, 204-775-2220
