Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUISE WIEBE Mom went to spend Christmas with Jesus on December 25, 2012, at the age of 84. She passed away with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Rudolf and Hulda Witzke, her husband Jake, her brothers Siegmunt and Rudolf Jr . Left behind to cherish her memories are daughter Lucille Murray, husband Les and children Chris and Ashley; son Erv, wife Deanna and children Justin and Jessica; daughter Lori Wiebe and children Jordan and Mitchell, wife Kiah. Mom was born in Wymyschle, Poland on January 1, 1928. She immigrated to Winnipeg in 1948 with her mother. There she met her husband Jake and enjoyed 45 years of marriage. She had a strong faith and a close relationship with God. She was involved with the Elmwood MB church and especially enjoyed the Willing Helpers fellowship. Mom relished her time with her grand-children and loved to spoil them with her cooking and baking. Mom looked forward to spending as much time as possible with her family at the cottage at Wanasing Beach, swimming, gardening, and relaxing in the sun. Travel played a big role in her life, and she was fortunate to be able to visit many countries around the world. Her most meaningful trip was in 1999 when she took her daughters and granddaughter to visit her childhood home in Poland. The family would like to sincerely thank the palliative care team who cared for and supported her and her family through her illness. A special thank you to Ann for the compassion she showed us all. The funeral service will be held at Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church, 145 Henderson Hwy., on Friday, December 28, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Sieg Wall officiating. Viewing will take place prior to the service. A reception will be held following the service, after which there will be a private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee, or The Family Life Network.

I just learned of Louise's passing and was saddened by the news...mostly because she too was a part of my upbringing...my mother (Gertrude Gerwin) and sister (Martha DeFehr) and I lived together with Louise and Hulda Wiztke on the 3rd floor of Margaret Unruh's house on Polson Ave in north Winnipeg...these were the first months of our arrival from Germany/Poland to a land of freedom where joy was found in the absence of fear and new beginnings.....the Willing Helpers (Willeger Helfer Verein) surprised us with a gift shower of the necessities needed for kitchens of that day....I'm sure this is why both Louise and my mother embraced that life of service which meant so much to us at that time...Louise shared many of the refugee stories of my youth me over the years which I was obviously too young to remember but was fully experienced by her....another piece of my history is gone but the legacy of that wonderful generation lives in her family and mine.....God has blessed you all..VP - Posted by: Vern Pletz (Distant cousin) on: Feb 10, 2013

It was my pleasure to have served together with Louise on the executive of the Willing Helpers at Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church for many years. Louise was very conscientious in her service as Treasurer. We will miss her for her cheerful smiles and warm goodheartedness. Sincerely, Helen Plett - Posted by: Helen Plett (Friend) on: Dec 28, 2012
