VIOLA LIZA JANE NICK (nee THIBODEAU) August 2, 1924 - December 27, 2012 It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Mother, Mother-in-law, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Mom was born in Piney, Manitoba. She met Eugene Joseph Nick and they were married September 25, 1946 in Winnipeg. Viola is survived by her son Philien Joseph (Louise); grandson Riley Travis (Sherry), granddaughter Regina Lynn (Chris) Kowaliszyn; great-grandchildren Claudia Brett and Hud Philien; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and legions of friends. She was predeceased by parents Harvey and Sarah Thibodeau, husband Eugene Joseph Nick; as well as sisters Adelaide, Barbara and Alice; and brothers Audrey, Harvey and Clifford. Both Mom and Dad were great travelers and crossed the country visiting and enjoying family and friends. Mom's friends and relatives will long remember her flair for gardening, cooking and hospitality. Mom took great delight and pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I would like to thank everyone who helped Mother over the last few difficult years. Especially like to thank the nieces, Sheryl and Shirley. They loved my Mom dearly. Due to the difficulty of getting family together the funeral mass and interment will be at a later date. Notice of this date will be posted. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030

  • The sadness that one feels at the loss of a loved one cannot be measured in words alone. A belief that our dear fiend Viola is looking down at us with the same love in her heart that she had here for all of us on earth is a small comfort. She is with her Gene again ... Both sadly missed and will always be in our memories and hearts. We met in Gillam and stayed friends all these years...it was a joy to know her and Gene and to be a small part of their life... my children fondly always called her the Avon Lady, which always brought a smile to her lips... God Bless... Sheila Ouellette and family - Posted by: SHEILA OUELLETTE (FRIEND) on: Jan 09, 2013
