  • I knew I would have to face this day..........but I did not expect it to be this soon. I thought Albert would make it 'til Christmas or even after. I knew Albert Schamp when he was admitted to Deer Lodge! I was one of his nurses on Lodge 7. In fact I believe I was one of his best (favorite) nurse as he told me. He told me I always made his day complete knowing that he had me for a nurse. Last year..........just before Christmas..........we all had a scare.......I honestly thought we were gonna lose him......I told myself.........I have to do something.......I couldn't let him go with Christmas just around the corner............I was so happy because with my assessments, and communication with the doctors and family..........WE were able to give him another full year of memories! He always told me that "I saved his life!" I promised to visit him as much as I can.......and I never broke my promise.....and everytime I would come in to visit......he smiled so big - full of happiness to see me, just knowing that he has not be forgotten. My last visit before he passed........I felt his pain, I saw how much he deteriorated, I felt his frustration..........I wanted to stay.........he asked me to stay..........but I couldn't stay the whole nite because of my 2 boys with me. WE had a good talk, because I knew he was coming to the end.......He told me........YOu and my family are all I have.......who actually cared and took care of me. He told me he was tired but he was excited to be in his wife's arms again. He told me he will also find my daughter up in heaven to tell her how much I love her and to tell her that I was a very good nurse and that She had the best mom ever. Albert, was like a father to me, a mentor...........his family were like my very own......the number 24.......will be a number that I will never forget.....My daughter LJ passed away Oct 24, 2012 and now Albert Schamp passed away Dec 24th, 2012.........To Alberts family - Lilian, Ken, Lorraine, Dave, Angela........Thank you for letting me be part of your father's life........I will miss him dearly.......... - Posted by: Jeralynn Espina (Nurse (DLC) and good friend) on: Dec 29, 2012
