RONALD MCCOMB It's with great sadness the family of Ronald Kenneth McComb announce his passing on Tuesday, December 25, 2012, with family by his side. Ron leaves behind his loving children: Kerry (Don Lowe) of Leithbridge, Jacqueline (Glenn Malic), and Melissa McComb (Lyndon Dufrenne) of Thunder Bay; Dad's grandchildren, Michael (Sarah), Stacie (Adam), Samantha (Jimmy), Karly, Kaitlyn, and greatgrandson Sebastian. Also to mourn, his sister-in-law Mary McComb of Toronto, nephew Bob McComb from Mississauga, niece Sandra (Mark Durand) of Aurora, and niece Marilyn Carid of Oakville; his mother-in-law Evelyn Markham, brother-in-law Ray (Linda) from Thunder Bay, sister-in-law Nancy (Lorne) from Kenora and daughter- in-law Doris McComb. Ron will also be sadly missed by other family members and friends. Ron was predeceased by his wife Maureen McComb, sons James and Michael McComb, also brother James McComb, father and mother, James and Amy McComb. Ron was born in Peru, South America, on June 27, 1929. As a young child, Dad along with his older brother and parents moved to Toronto as grandpa's work with Imperial Oil required the family to move back home. Dad attended Lawrence Park High School in Toronto where he made many life long friends. As a young man, Dad moved to Winnipeg with his two eldest children, Jim and Kerry. As time progressed, Dad met and married Mom, and along with Michael made a family of five. Not long after, two more girls, Jacqueline and Melissa, made the family complete. In Dad's younger years he was active in many sports. He played both basketball and hockey in high school. Then while serving in the Military, Dad excelled at baseball. As an adult in Winnipeg, Dad loved curling and was member of Deer Lodge Curling Club. Dad's life long passion was golf. He had been a member of Breezy Bend Country Club and for the past 30+ years at St. Charles Country Club. Dad and Mom had many special memories. Most cherished was building the family home on McCreary Road. Although Dad was a suit and tie man, on the weekends he loved to drive around on his Ford tractor and F-150 truck. Both Dad and Mom also loved the times they spent with their beloved neighbors from the farm. On many Friday nights, Dad and Mom could also be seen enjoying fine food and friends in the Lounge at St. Charles. Dad was both charismatic and debonair, but also a true salesman through and through. Throughout his career, he owned and operated both small and large businesses. His was most proud of his agency, R.K. McComb and Associates. Dad was over the moon that the family tradition continued many years ago when son James purchased and ran the company until his early passing last year. Dad was both a loving husband and father and was so proud of all his children. Dad was focused on the business and providing for his family in his early years. Later in life, his focused evolved into taking care of Mom and enjoying a simpler life with family and friends. Dad you can finally rest in peace as you abide in God's loving care. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional staff on second floor at Golden West Centennial Lodge for going above and beyond in making our dad feel so loved and cared for. Words cannot express out gratitude. Also, Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence for giving both our parents that special attention and time together. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Ron was always a polite and encouraging person when he called on me to sell the products that RK McComb carried. His compliments always encouraged me to continue to work hard in trying circumstances. I looked forward to his calls and sessions with him. When difficulties arose for him personally or in business he was always optimistic that something good was coming from the experience. He was a true friend and supplier that left hope and joy wherever he went. - Posted by: Gordon Seier (Customer ) on: Jan 03, 2013
