WILLIAM HICKS It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather William (Bill) Francis Hicks. He passed away peacefully in the afternoon of December 19, 2012 at Concordia Place with his family by his side. His memory will be forever cherished by his daughter Clarissa (Gary), grandchildren Erin (Peter), Joel (Tamara), Megan, and great-grandchildren Luca, Chloe, Max, and Jake. Bill is predeceased by his wife Nellie, parents Maud and Thomas, brother Roy, and sister-in-law Lois. Bill also leaves behind the many friends and family members who will mourn the loss of such an amazing person. Special thoughts to his niece Val (Brent) and family, his Portland Street Family' the Hendersons, his Vancouver family, as well as the Vital seniors in St. Vital. Bill lived a long and happy life. From the time he was a young man he excelled in all sports. He participated in the liberation of Europe during the Second World War. When Bill came home from Europe he went back to work for the Hudson's Bay Company for 50 years until his retirement. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and loved being at his trailer in West Hawk Lake. He spent many summers there with his family playing golf and fishing. During his retirement he had a lot of hobbies including collecting stamps and coins and playing bridge at his church Saint Mary Magdalene. Bill was recently presented with a lifetime membership to the Vital seniors. The family would like to thank the staff of the Rosewood and Concordia Place for the compassion and care they have provided Bill over the last four years. A celebration of his life will take place on January 5, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, 3 St. Vital Road. Flowers are gratefully declined.
