JUL SANTO It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Julius (Jul) Santo. Jul passed away peacefully on December 29, 2012 at the Seven Regions Health Centre, Gladstone, Manitoba at the age of 83 years. Jul will be sadly missed by his sister Olga Rossnagel; his nieces and nephews, Barbara (Rick) Gibbons, Lola (Dave) Muma, Pat (Curt) Prudden, Lorne (Debbie) Rossnagel, Jeanine (Randy) Court, and Neil (Judy) Rossnagel; JoJo's special great-nieces and nephews, Alyssa (Nils) Schear, Andrea (Trevor) Bjarnarson, Aaron Rossnagel (Natasha), Gary (Hiromi) and Tracy Court, and Declan and Kiera Rossnagel, and his special sweeties, great-great-nephew and niece, Wyatt Rossnagel and Aiyana Bjarnarson whose pictures he would show to anyone that had a minute to look at them. Jul will also be missed by many more relatives and friends. Jul was predeceased by his parents Alex and Kathleen (Gal) Santo; his sister Kathleen (Lloyd) Cole and brother-in-law Alfred Rossnagel. Jul was born on September 1, 1929 in the Plumas district and attended the Edington School. He farmed all his life on section 12-17-13 and was especially proud of his sizeable herd of Limousine x Charlais cattle. His favourite pastimes involved going to auction sales, snowmobiling, quading, and going for coffee with his friends. Jul had a tremendous sense of humour and could tell an entertaining story about any situation leaving everyone in stitches. In 1994, Jul sold the farm to Lorne and Debbie Rossnagel and bought his retirement home in Gladstone but he never really retired. His heart was still in farming where he continued to help with the cattle and haying for several years. He loved the company, especially meals in the field when the kids were there to join us. Uncle JoJo was a favourite with all children. When Jul finally decided to truly retire from farming, he still drove to Plumas twice a week to visit Olga and continued going for coffee with his buddies. Spending time with family and friends meant the world to him. Memorial donations in memory of Jul may be made to the charity of one's choice. In accordance with his wishes, no funeral will be held and cremation has taken place. Clarke's Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
