PHILLIP SYNTAK "Soar With The Eagles" It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing, after a courageous fight with cancer, of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend Phillip (Phil) Roger Syntak on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Neepawa Health Centre with us all by his side. Phil was the eldest child born to Walter and Rena Syntak on April 23, 1948 in Minnedosa, Manitoba. Phil started his working career as a milkman with the Minnedosa Co-Op Creamery first out of Winnipeg and returning to his home roots of Minnedosa working several years alongside his father. With his keen business sense he soon ventured off with a partner and started S S Milk Services. Phil then became the proud owner of Phil's Grocery and Confectionery, which he ran from 1991 to 2009 when he went into semi-retirement and became the contract driver for the Neepawa District Handy Transit. Phil was always very good with people and loved being around all people, conversing, laughing and joking with one and all and will be sorely missed. Phil was predeceased by his parents Walter and Rena, brother Bruce and wife June. He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of eight plus years, Elsie Slimmon; sister Karen (Doug) Kuculym; sons Stephen (Kim), Roger (Bo); daughters Michelle (Steve) Formaniuk, Nicole (Tyler) Bileski; stepchildren Allison and James Boxshall, Shawna (Larry) Chartrand, Angela Tremaine, Jennifer Forsythe and family. Also left to mourn are grandchildren Keenan, Alyia, Avery, Delaney, Courtney, Stephen; stepgrandchildren Brady, Noah, Jackson, Krista, Amanda, Jenelle and James, along with nephews David and Jason Kuculym, and nieces Jill (Derek) Magis and family and Kelly and family. Celebration of Life was held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Neepawa United Church with Rita Friesen officiating. A private family interment followed at the Minnedosa Cemetery. Whites Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Neepawa District Palliative Care Services or CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Well dad it's been two years since we have said goodbye. I know you're with us all the time but it still doesn't quite heal this pain. It's like a small flame went out inside of us when we lost you! I'll miss you forever and always. Love you eternally. Nicole - Posted by: Nicole bileski (Daughter) on: Dec 12, 2014

  • Memories...of our visits to our grandparents' farm outside of Sandy Lake and our adventures there. Another highlight was staying with Uncle Walter and Auntie Rena in Minnedosa and spending time with Phil, Bruce and Karen. Just the best memories. Karen, please send me your email address or phone number. Want to keep in touch. My sympathies to you and your family. - Posted by: Pat Radstrom (Cousin) on: Jan 09, 2013
