Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • I came to R.B. as a relatively young teacher. Adolph was one of the "originals"....a group of educators who faced the challenges of the school with humour, caring and dedication.....and who became like surrogate parents and definitely mentors, not only to the students but also to young teachers like myself, new to the workings of the inner city. Adolf and I worked together on the school yearbook....way before computers and digital imagery. A group of us often worked into the night on those yearbooks....pasting, cutting, gluing with hot wax. Adolf kept us sane and on track, even ordering in pizza so that we could keep working to meet deadlines..... always with a smile on his face and a willingness to teach us about photography and the rudiments of paste-up. Those days are long gone. I'm now a retired teacher myself.....but always, I have kept the very fond memories from those early years and of Adolf and the other wonderful colleagues who went the extra mile to make that school such a positive and wonderful place to learn and work. Rest in peace Adolf and to the family, please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences. • I just heard the news and I am so sorry for your loss. Elsie, you and Adolf were such wonderful neighbours to Mom & Dad. Thank-you for your kindness, consideration and patience . . . always. - Posted by: Harald & Marion Krause (Old Neighbours) on: Jan 12, 2013

  • Mr. Schell was a wonderful man: very kind, patient and generous with his time. He was highly respected in our church, and my 1st-year Confirmation instructor. When he spoke, we listened…especially when he had difficulty getting the words out…then you knew it was important. He had his shops students build and retrofit a latch and lock for our full-panel garage door as a project. It's probably working still to this day, 25 years later. He loved photography, provided me with a few tips on developing black and whites, and once gave me a tour of his home darkroom. He was a quiet, sensitive and gentle man; a great role model. I admired him. - Posted by: Jeremy Kunkel () on: Jan 12, 2013

  • My Dad was always my best friend. I never went thru the teen years trying to avoid him or was embarrassed of him! We even went and sat in the front row together to see "Cheech & Chong"! We went fishing together, worked on cars together and went to movies and the Planetarium, just him and me! I remember canoeing with him one time, and I don't remember how many times that canoe threw us in the water but he never got mad at me, even though it was my fault I kept falling in and when I tried to get back in, I would throw him into the water! He was always there for me...ALWAYS FOR ANYTHING! I'm so sorry he is not here anymore and I am sorry other kids never had a father like him! He never ever let me down! He never had an excuse not to come and help me, he would just come. You were my best friend dad, all my life! - Posted by: Bill Schell (Son) on: Jan 07, 2013
