CRAIG ARTHUR LECO It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our father, brother, grandfather and friend, Craig Leco who passed away on the morning of Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the age of 57 years. Left to cherish Craig's memory is his son Brent Leco (Jenn); granddaughter Ella Leco; sister Wendy Mainland (Al); brother Kevin Leco (Pamela); along with an aunt and uncle; numerous cousins; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Gwen Martin and Arthur Michael Leco; and stepfather Robert Martin. Craig was born January 31, 1955, in Edmonton, Alberta, and then moved to Winnipeg at a young age. He started his career as a Paramedic for Seven Oaks Ambulance and continued with the City of Winnipeg for 38 years. He was an active member of the Camaro Club, and enjoyed spending time with Brent at various car shows. Craig's boisterous laugh would fill any room he was in, and the love for his family was undeniable. He will be incredibly missed now and always. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. Their kindness and compassion throughout his stay in the hospital is extremely appreciated. Craig's wish was to be buried in Emerson, which will occur in the summer of 2013 in the presence of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. • Craig often attended car shows with a group of friends from the Manitoba Camaro Club up until a couple of years ago. Last year he made it out twice and we were so happy to see our big friendly giant with the infectious laugh. We are greatly saddened and will miss him. - Posted by: Deb & Harold (Met through the Manitoba Camaro Club) on: Jan 24, 2013

  • I was shocked to hear of Craig's passing through Val- Wpg. He grew up as my young neighbor with Wendy, Sherry, Kevin, - and we all had interesting times - (in fact I used his hockey equipment for my son) -I miss the family and was thinking of them just the other day as years have passed since Gwen died and I lost touch. My condolences to Wendy in particular.....all you guys were great and your brother led the way. I know in my heart how you will feel his young loss of life he loved so much. God Bless - Posted by: Lori Alexander (Kelowna BC) (former neighbor on Twain Drive) on: Jan 13, 2013

  • Thinking about Craig and the many years we worked together, you were a good friend and working with you, well that's a story all on it's own. All those KFC Tonnie Tuesdays we bought, I thought we would put them out of business. We drifted apart over the last few years, but I will truly miss you. Your now pain-free, and probably making people laugh wherever you are. Take care! - Posted by: Marty Nienhuis Sr. (Co-Worker/Friend) on: Jan 13, 2013

  • A mountain of a man that always made you feel that your walk was downhill when you worked with him, never having to struggle and kept you laughing the whole day thru, God Bless You Graig! - Posted by: Kerry Buhay (Co-Worker) on: Jan 13, 2013

  • I'll never forget meeting Craig shortly after being hired on with Winnipeg EMS @ Stn. 10/30 on Osborne. Craig had the ability to make people laugh at the drop of a hat. RIP Craig. Leach - Posted by: Bryan Leach (Colleague ) on: Jan 13, 2013

  • As I think back to our 55 + years of being brother and sister, I have yet to find two others that had the same relationship that you and I shared. Both of us being from two totally different families at birth, then being brought together by adoption into a very loving and caring family. You being my big brother were very big shoes to fill. I am so grateful that you and I had this special friendship that lasted through out our lives. I am so going to miss you. Your beautiful laughter, kindest of all hearts, never having to think twice about anything that anyone asked you to do. You were always there for me, more that you will ever know. I loved our daily phone calls, and most of your humor. Some I had to have Al explain to me. (It's the blonde thing). My heart is broken now, but I know that in time it will get easier. I love you big Brother. No more pain, and no more suffering. My wonderful memories of you will be with me forever, and will be shared with all that love you. - Posted by: Wendy Mainland (Sister) on: Jan 12, 2013

  • A fun and enjoyable guy to pull a shift with. Great sense of humor. - Posted by: Clay Reichert (co-worker) on: Jan 12, 2013

  • Craig was a good friend for over 44 years. He loved his sports including playing hockey in his younger years which was his passion. He also loved playing other sports such as Racquet Ball and Tennis. Due to knee injuries which forced him to quit such sports I ended up introducing him to the computer. It was then that we both teamed up via the Internet playing games against my sons. Both my boys at the time were under 12 which of course gave us the edge. Craig was a kind hearted, sensitive man with a hard exterior but huge heart and a very loyal sincere friend. I am proud to have known Craig as he will be deeply missed but our memories together I will never forget. Rest in Peace my friend. - Posted by: Gordon Penarsky (Friend) on: Jan 12, 2013

  • we were together in school from grade 3 and up. we had mrs. roberts in robert browning school and we would be laughing all the time. he told me that he swallowed a marble and was worried about it but the next day he told me that he had pooped it out and i could not stop laughing. needless to say i had to stand in the corner. we had good laughs as the years went on but once in high school we weren't in the same classes. i am sorry for your loss he was to young but he will always be remember for making us laugh in our younger days. - Posted by: doris (lausch) fergusson (elementary school friend) on: Jan 11, 2013

  • Craig was a very kind hearted and happy go lucky individual. Great sense of humor and enjoyed the little things in life. Very proud of his son and his accomplishments. - Posted by: Rick Stephanchew (Co-worker and friend) on: Jan 11, 2013

  • On the outside Craig could appear rough and tough but to me he was funny, intelligent, stubborn, child like, caring, supportive and at times shy and insecure. He was so proud of his son and grinned from ear to ear when talking about his beautiful Granddaughter. I will cherish the many good times we shared together and know that Craig is now pain free and catching up with family that passed before him. - Posted by: Cindy C. (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2013
