MARJORIE EVANS With much sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, Marjorie Evans on January 5, 2013 peacefully in her sleep at Concordia Hospital. Marjorie was born in Calgary, Alberta, on November 4, 1924 to Laura and Thomas Stowell, but moved to England as a young child. She grew up in Yorkshire, England and married her childhood sweetheart on January 12, 1946. Along with their family, they immigrated to Canada in October 1951, eventually settling in Winnipeg after briefly living in Ontario. Marjorie leaves to mourn her husband of 67 years, Don, her daughters Carol (Bob), Lynne (Don), both of Winnipeg, Jan (Larry) of Vancouver, Cindy (Denis) of St. Claude, and her only son Mike (Lynn) of Winnipeg. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Jeff (Gerrie), Karen of North Carolina, Ryan (Carmina), Chelsea, Matt, and Andrew, great-grandchildren Damon and Jenna. She is also survived by family and friends in England and Ontario. She was predeceased by her sister Joyce Cooper, and brothers Ron and Harold. Above all Marjorie was a devoted mom and wife but, as her children got older she turned to her love of nursing. She completed her LPN in 1967 and worked many years at Princess Elizabeth and Concordia Hospitals. She retired in 1988 after a successful and happy nursing career. She enjoyed her retirement years traveling to exciting locales. She loved her family, church family and lifelong neighbours on Fleming Avenue. In her spare time she played her piano and spent countless hours in her garden. In her last year, she moved to Concordia Village and made many new friends. The family wishes to thank the N1 south nursing staff at Concordia Hospital, especially Elsa along with Doctor Kuegle. We would like to give many thanks to Rev. Diane Guilford for her support and guidance. A Celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, 220 Helmsdale Ave., Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044
