JOSE SOBREIRO It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jose Sobreiro, at the age of 52, on January 10, 2013 at Riverview Health Centre, surrounded by his wife, daughters, family and many friends. Jose is survived by his wife and soul mate Maria Helia, daughters Cristina and Nancy, parents Luis and Maria, brother Paulo, sister Ana, father-in-law Manuel, brother-in-law Manuel, niece Maribel (Carlos), goddaughter Jessica, nephew Leandro, uncle Fernando, and aunt Lina, cousins Michel and John, and extended family and friends in Winnipeg and Portugal. Jose came to Winnipeg at an early age and worked hard doing what he loved, construction. In 1984 he met the love of his life Maria Helia and they were married the following year. The next two years brought two daughters, who up until his final days he always said were the most precious things he had in life. Jose worked hard for his family and we only hope that we worked hard enough for him during his brief fight with cancer. Our father never gave up hope and fought so hard until the end. He was courageous and strong, the rock in our family. He will be forever missed and our love for him will never end. We take comfort that he is with the Lord now. We would like to thank all of his family and friends he made along the way who visited him daily. You all brought him so much comfort and support, which we will never forget. Thank you to all the staff at Riverview who helped care for him and us as well, his Parkwest Projects family who continued to remember him, and Pastor Wayne who helped in ways that words can never describe. Prayers will be held Sunday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4588 Roblin Blvd. at Grant at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14, with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to Riverwood Community Church's Hope Centre, 274 Talbot Ave. 204-586-8044

Joe was one of the best men that I have ever met in the construction industry and will be sorrowly missed for years to come. My thoughts go out to Joe's family although we've never met, after working with Joe, I feel like I know you. My dad was the greatest. I can't describe the love he had for his family. Before his passing he told us we were the biggest blessing in his life, and he would always be here with us. My dad may be gone but he is still very much in our hearts. I love and miss him so much. - Posted by: Christina Sobreiro (Daughter) on: Jan 16, 2013

Joe was a great neighbour and family man. He would always be there for anyone that needed him. It's really hard to hear that such another great person is gone but know that his life couldn't be any better than it is right now. Until we meet again - Posted by: Steve (neighbour) on: Jan 14, 2013

My family and I have known Joe and his family for the last 12 years. At all times, Joe is one of the good ones, kind, friendly and always smiling. I cannot believe I am writing a tribute but it is good to know he is with God. Darn, but you will be missed. May not have seen you or talked to you all the time but it was very comforting to know you were out there looking out for us. My condolences to Maria, Christina and Nancy..If there is anything we can do to help, please call...Take care and God Bless. We are all in shock to hear of these tragic news - Posted by: Frances and family (family friend) on: Jan 13, 2013

Words cannot express how deeply sorry we are to hear of Joe's passing. Our sympathies go out to his family. Joe was a good hearted neighbor who always had a smile on his face and would spare the time to stop and chat and offer his help. He was a good family man who loved his wife and children, his pets, friend's and his neighbors. Rest in eternal peace Joe. - Posted by: Doris & Walter ( neighbor) on: Jan 13, 2013
