O'GLEN LYONELLA SHELDON (nee WILLIAMS) In the morning of Saturday, January 5, 2013, Glen passed away peacefully at Stonewall District Health Centre with family by her side. Glen is survived and lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law Helen Trick, Maureen Sheldon and Yvonne Williams. She was predeceased by Arthur, her wonderful husband of 49 years, in 1998. Glen was also predeceased by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and numerous other family members. Glen is also survived and lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She will be missed and fondly remembered by wonderful lifelong friends as well as special friends she met since moving to Lions Manor. Glen was born on July 10, 1924 in Balmoral and moved to Stonewall at two years of age. She worked in the family restaurant and at age 20, attended the Nu Fashion Hair Dressing School. In June of 1949 she and Artie were married and lived in Stonewall for 10 years where she hair-dressed from home. In 1959, they moved to the Sheldon Family Farm allowing Art's parents to retire to Stonewall. Glen hair-dressed for more than 50 years and formed many friendships that lasted her whole life. Once they semi-retired from farming, they were able to travel more extensively. Some of Glen's best friends were her family and as a group made many trips to different destinations for holidays. In 1998 following her husband's passing, Glen moved to Stonewall, first to 5th Avenue South Apartments, then, when the new wing was complete, to Lion's Manor. Glen's many interests and hobbies were varied, including painting, ceramics, furniture refinishing and gardening, On Glen's behalf, the family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Graham for his care over the years. As well, special thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the nursing staff at Stonewall Hospital, who provided such compassionate care over the past several months and became extended family . If so desired, donations in Glen's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or other charity of choice A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main Street, Stonewall, Rev. We remember Glen with wonderful fondness, as a member of Tuesday's 'Pizza Gang'. She was always a lady of great stature. I appreciate Glen bringing my favorite treat, a peanut butter/marshmallow slice for my birthdays. Thanks you Glen, RIP. - Posted by: Lynn & Wally MacMartin () on: Jan 13, 2013
