DIANE MIKOLAJEK January 24, 1939 - January 15, 2013 Surrounded by her family, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, at the age of 73, at Health Sciences Centre. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband John, of 53 years; children Greg (Mavis), Sherry Glowa (Michael) and Glenn (Kelly); grandchildren Stacey, Brenley (Rob), James, Michaela and Nicholas, also by her sister Irene Neroda (Jim), and brother Ed Gawryluk. Diane was born and raised in Winnipeg. She devoted her entire life to her family and enjoyed nothing more than cooking a big meal for all of us. Over the years Mom and Dad travelled frequently but she was especially fond of Hawaii and cruising. She always made time to attend every event for all of her children and grandchildren and she always had time for Tim Hortons. A celebration of Diane's life will take place Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 and Canadian Diabetes Association P.O. Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • We join with the many friends to wish you God's peace with the passing of your wonderful Diane, Wife, Mom, GrandMom, Aunt, Sister and beloved friend. What a full and rich life Diane lived. And we see where our beautiful and fun Sherry got her looks and fun personality from. We have enjoyed listening to Sherry and Mike tell family stories, letting us learn their family better. We very much wish we could be with you for big hugs and support. We are leaving today on a cruise. Of course, as usual, we will be wishing to once more find those annoying Canadians in the casino. And this cruise, we will be raising a glass to toast Diane in the celebration of her life. Lots of love. James and Gail. - Posted by: James and Gail Wilson (Friends of Sherry and Michael) on: Feb 02, 2013

  • To John and all the family, I would like to add our deepest condolences for your great loss. I worked with Diane many years ago at Air Canada Commissary and a number of her coworkers were at her funeral yesterday. We wanted to say a few words at the "open mic", but you know, the older you get, the harder it is to remember specific things. Now that I've had a chance to think about it, here's what I might have said yesterday. When Air Canada closed its Commissary Department back in 1990, the morale of the employees was very low. We had known for many months that we were losing our jobs and we were all nervous and uncertain about our futures. We decided to have a "Take This Job and Shove It" party. You and Diane were gracious enough to invite us all to your home for our last hurrah. And what a party it was! I have so many pictures of Diane, laughing and enjoying herself as we handed out "departure tickets" to each of our fellow employees. Thank you for the opportunity it gave us to blow off a little steam and find some closure. Since that time, we have come together, as old friends do, and enjoyed each other's company...at Leslie and Murray's cottage in Libau, at Rose and Wayne's at Twin Beaches, at Larter's or the many other restaurants in Winnipeg. We were like family. And over the years some of our Commissary Family have gone on before us, Ernie Kostiuk, Zane Mochuruk, Bruce Waugh, Leslie Foot to name just a few. Knowing Diane, she'll be organizing another party up there! We are certain to have more of our little get-togethers in the years to come, and we hope, John, that you will continue to join us. We will all raise a miniature to Diane and all the great times we had with each other. On behalf of all the gang John, our sincerest condolences. - Posted by: Mair Livingstone (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2013
