Date of Passing: Jan 18, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTHA MORAWSKI On Friday, January 18, 2013, 12 days after her 99th birthday, Aunt Bertha passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Residence. She was predeceased by her parents Julian and Anastasia "Nettie", and her sisters and brothers; Minnie, Julie, Walter (Anne Morris), Anne (Pat Sapiak), Stanley (Nellie Morawski), and nephew Walter Morris. Bertha is survived by her sisters Rose and Angela "Nellie", and brother-in-law, Elmer. She also will be missed by all her nieces and nephews, Marge (Noel), Betty, Ken (Val), Barbara (Jack), Patti (Elliott), Jennifer (Mike), Cathy (Bruce), Tom (Elaine), Gerald, Bob (Susanne), Susan (Ron), Terry (Roger), Susan (Joe), and their families. She also enjoyed her numerous "great" nieces and nephews and would often babysit them and bring treats! Bertha attended Holy Ghost School and Church when younger and loved to sing in the choir in Polish and English. Bertha worked at Canada Packers in St. Boniface for many years before retiring. She and her sister Rose, with whom she shared a very special relationship, then started travelling together in Canada and the U.S. Her sister Angela and husband Elmer often joined them, especially on trips to Toronto to visit brother Stanley and family. Bertha was a life-long parishioner of St. Alphonsus Church and the ladies C.W.L. group. She was also a dedicated member of the Third Order of St. Francis where she volunteered her time and talents helping out those less fortunate in the downtown area. Auntie Bertha was a woman of great faith who will be lovingly remembered as a kind, gentle, caring person who loved and cherished spending time with her family. She spent her final 10 years with her "second family" at St. Joseph's Residence. While living there, Bertha participated in many activities and became a friend to all, often reporting on the weather conditions as she watched TV. A heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at St. Joseph's, who were always there for our beloved Aunt. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 341 Munroe Avenue with viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bertha's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044
