MILDRED ANN LAVERGNE (nee BROMILOW) January 3, 1928 - January 17, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mildred Lavergne. Mildred was predeceased by her parents Mable and George Bromilow, brothers Stanley and Wilfred, and sister Dorothy Mulvey. Mildred was born and raised in Winnipeg, where she graduated from St. Mary's Academy. She worked for the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. She also worked for the Department of Defence of the Canadian Government in Churchill, Manitoba. She then went on to work at Air Canada where she made a lifelong friend by the name of Eileen Rowan who would by chance introduce Mildred to the man who would become the love of her life and husband of 52 years - Real Lavergne. Once married, Mildred dedicated her life to being a home maker and raising her children. Mildred had a very interesting life. She was an avid bowler, and remained active for many years. She also volunteered at the Misercordia Hospital for approx. 20 years always willing to help people in need. She met so many people, and we just can't help but think just how much it meant to her to help people. She leaves to mourn her husband Real; her daughter Michelle (Roy), Jacqueline (Pat), Grandchildren Elizabeth, Michael, Carmen, Christopher, and Jonathan. She also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, and other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made in memory of Mildred Lavergne to the heart and stroke foundation, or the cancer society of Manitoba. A service will be held on Monday, January 28 10:30 a.m. at Manoir de la Cathedrale, 321 Avenue de la Cathedral on the 4th floor. Interment to follow at a later date. Mom we love you, and will miss you always. Now you are free to fly with the angels in heaven forever. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Mildred was a wonderful neighbour & friend. She was always cheerful, kind & generous. Our daughters met at the age of 12, after Mildred & Red had lived in their house for a year. I guess they were too shy to approach one another. Finally, When Jackie was outside, I called my daughter, Chantal out to meet her. They've been friends ever since. Once, Mildred gave me a few of the vines that were growing on her fence. I planted them & before long, my fence was fully covered, as well as my garage. They looked beautiful. She often gave me vegetables from her garden, which were much appreciated. One funny story comes to me. I asked Mildred if she would give me a home permanent & she agreed. She came over & put the curlers in my hair & then I handed her what I thought was the curling solution. She applied it & than when it was time, she applied the other bottle, which was supposed to stop the curling process. It smelled very strong, so I looked at the label & I had given her the wrong solution! She had put the neutralizer on first & the perming solution on last. I quickly rinced my hair out & no harm was done. Just a waste of Mildred's time. R.I.P. Mildred. You will be missed. - Posted by: Linda Viallet (neighbour & friend) on: Feb 06, 2013
