Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHLEEN G. EAMES (nee FLETT) September 30, 1919 - January 26, 2013 Peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2013, mom passed away at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. Mom was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1996, and her infant daughter Kathleen in 1943; by her parents Mary and George Flett; her brothers Ernie, Harry, Stanley, Fred and Bert; and her sisters Stella, Sylvia, Norma and Nellie. Mom is survived by her children Doug (Linda), Allan (Carol), Laverne (Bill), Carol (Dale) and Linda; her grandchildren Shelley (Peter), Doug (Crystal), Brenda (Ron), Billy (Lori), Michael (Laura), Richard, Dennis (Ashley), Keri (Garrett), Lance (Violeta), Jennifer (Aaron), and Rebecca (Jean); her great-grandchildren Stephanie, Matthew, Dustin, Caitlin, Connor, Haley, William, Katey, Devon, Mason, Sophia, Abby, Zachary and Jordyn. Mom is also survived by her sister Doreen Orvis, and many nieces and nephews. Mom was a very quiet and private woman who enjoyed the comfort of her own home. Her door was always open to her family. Over the years, she enjoyed playing Bingo, Yahtzee, and watching hockey and Bomber games. She was also known for her homemade bread and bannock. In the spring, mom would plant her flowers and work in the yard with dad. She had a small vegetable garden and, come fall, her kitchen would be filled with the aroma of her homemade pickles. Every Christmas, mom would be busy putting up the tree and decorating the house, and she and dad would make their annual Christmas puddings. As mom's health started to fail, she took pleasure in watching Reba, Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. She really enjoyed her $3.00 Crossword scratch tickets and was known to win on at least one out of every two tickets. The family would like to thank the staff of the medical ward at the Selkirk and District General Hospital for the care and compassion extended to our mother during her recent stay in the hospital. We also wish to thank the Selkirk Home Care staff for their assistance with preparations for mom's anticipated return home. Thank you to Gilbart Funeral Home for their guidance and assistance. Cremation has taken place and, in keeping with mom's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private burial will be held at a later date at Cloverdale Cemetery. Flowers are respectfully declined. If friends so desire, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Every time I think or make homemade bread I always think of your Mom. She would mix up the dough in her big yellow/beige bowl. I can see her kneading the bread with a big smile on her face as she panned, like 8 loaves of bread which sat on the stove top to rise. Or playing the piano when we were tweens. I will always remember her smile and twinkling eyes that matched that smile. - Posted by: Wendy Stefanyshyn (Friend) on: Jan 30, 2013

Our deepest sympathy goes to the family - we may not have seen you much over the years but you were always in our prayers and I did enjoy our visits when I was in town. Our family has never been short of laughs and I will always remember that. Hugs to the family - Posted by: Linda McEachern (Niece) on: Jan 30, 2013
