Born: Sep 13, 1923
Date of Passing: Jan 26, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN (BODNARCHUK) PENTELIUK With great sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother on January 26, 2013 at Beacon Hill Lodge, with her family by her side. Mom was born on September 13, 1923 in Caliento, MB and was the last surviving member of the Bodnarchuk family. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Alex in 1998, her parents Nykolia and Maria; five sisters, Pearl, Kay, Nellie, Anne, Jessie; seven brothers, Harry, Paul, Steve, Peter, John, Bill and Mike. She will be lovingly remember and is survived by her three daughters, Geraldine, Judy, and Sharon; sisters-in-law, Olga Bodnarchuk, Mary Penteliuk; brother-in-law Ben Sleva, and many nieces and nephews. Mom (Helen) was a wonderful wife and mother. Family was very important to her. She doted on us and all of her and dad's family when we all were together for many family gatherings and holidays. She also was a wonderful cook, specializing in all Ukrainian foods, as was sampled with many of her home made meals. As she was self-taught by her mother and never used a cookbook, many of these recipes where done by memory only. She loved gardening, grew and planted beautiful flowers that adorned all of her yards over the years. Picking fruit, playing cards, Ukrainian music and Kinsmen bingo were pastimes. She was a very religious woman whose belief in God and church was very strong. When she became ill last year, her biggest disappointment was that she no longer could attend her church services. But she continued to pray each and every day. For the last three months, mom lived at Beacon Hill Lodge on the third floor. We would like to thank them for the very wonderful care given to mom, and the kindness and compassion given to us as well. Prior to mom moving to Beacon Hill Lodge, her care was provided by a team of dedicated home care professionals (Access Centre) for whom the family is extremely grateful. Mom's funeral will take place on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, with Father Miron Pozniak officiating. Pallbearers for the service are Bruce Bodner, Ernie Bodnarchuk, Ken Bodnarchuk, John Perchaliuk, Roman Kuchma and Ted Chambers. A luncheon will follow and then interment to St. Peter's and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Arbakka, MB, where she finally will be joined with dad again. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. Vichnaya Pamyat! CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044
