KENNETH VICTOR SMITH June 21, 1933 - January 24, 2013 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Kenneth Victor Smith passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on January 24, 2013 after a brief illness. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joan, his brother Gerry (Vivian), sister-in-law Glenda (Neil), his children Murray (Kathy), Sandra (Rick), Leslie, step-daughters Laura (Terry) and Christine (Willis). Grandchildren Tyson, Brianna, Dylan, Murray, Ian, Logan, Patrick, Jessica, Adam, Nicholas and Devon and great-grandchild Owen. Ken will also be missed by his good friends Don and Wayne and Judy-Lynne. He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Margaret Smith, his brother Len and step-daughter Vicky, sister-in-law Betty. Ken was born and raised in Fort Rouge, Winnipeg. He worked for Winnipeg Transit until his retirement in 1996. Ken and Joan were married in 1983 and were residing in Paradise Village, Ste. Anne, MB. Ken thoroughly enjoyed living at Paradise Village and loved meeting and socializing with his neighbours. He was always willing to lend a hand and made many friends there. Ken especially enjoyed summers at the lake at Grand Beach where he took great pride in his cottage. Ken spent most of his summers at the beach since he was young. He enjoyed fishing and a regular breakfast date with his beach friends. Ken was a true gentleman and a very kind-hearted soul. Ken will be deeply missed by his family and friends who will always remember his gentle laugh and the twinkle in his eyes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Ste. Anne and St. Boniface hospitals for their excellent care and compassion shown towards Ken and his family. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
