Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Uncle Nels He was a distant but dear uncle to me, I had few chances to meet this special man but was touched each time we met. He was a fine man who cared most about those he loved and made them feel like they were loved and important in his world. He met the love of his life Lanna while traveling abroad and introduced his family to her when she finally immigrated to Canada. She survived him as the most devoted wife a man could wish to have, and a wonderful aunt to have. I wish the best for my uncle Nels beyond the grave, and remember him as a kind man with many interests including art and original cartoon print collection hobbies. He helped my dad fix his cars with his library of car repair manuals in younger life, perhaps this is what propelled me to a career as a mechanic. I've taken this passion and become a teacher in the mechanical trades field. I'd like to thank Nels for the help before I even knew I would follow this trade. All the best to you Nels and Lanna, I only wish I would have had more time to know you as an adult. All my love Ollie Olson - Posted by: "Little" Ollie Olson (Nephew) on: Dec 27, 2014

  • We have missed both Nels and his sister Sonja and their mother Lillian since you left Mooseheart, Illinois. I remember Nels' whimsical smile, blonde hair and that the Olson family was from Canada. Love, Janet (All those in the memorial tombs will come out..they will hear his voice..) • I have known Nels for most of my life. I wish the family my condolences. The last time I saw him he was newly married to his lovely wife Lanna. He was so excited and in love. I was so glad to see him smile even in the face of his illness. I will miss you friend. Safe journey. - Posted by: Penny Puhlmann (friend) on: Feb 09, 2013

  • To all the Olson family, my deepest Sympathies, you may not remember me, but ask your mother if she remembers visiting the Moreau farm many years ago. I grew up with Nels. dad he was our neighbor and a dear friend. Leo died many years ago, and now my name is Hutchinson. You are all in my thoughts, and I would really like to hear from any one of you. Sincerely Helen Hutchinson. - Posted by: Helen {Moreau} Hutchinson (OLD friend of family.) on: Feb 09, 2013

  • I believe this being Carl Nels Olson, who was a 1973 classmate and friend from Mooseheart, IL. He and your entire families are in my thoughts and prayers. I recently started making an intense facebook & internet search for Nels and Sonja to reconnect, advise, and invite them to our 40th Mooseheart High School Reunion. Mooseheart's campus living experiences created long term bonds, like an extended family. Our 1973 class was pretty close throughout. His picture brings back memories, his smile and straight hair style look familiar, though I recall his hair being blonde/brown. He first came and lived in Wisconsin Hall, a seventh grade boys residence for about 12 boys. During the winter months he taught me the basic chess strategies, never having played before, we played for long hours and days... I appreciated his chess instructions and challenge, later I enjoyed teaching my son the love of chess... passing on one of Nels Legacy's for me.
