HELENE BEDARD Peacefully, on Monday, February 4 2013, our loving and devoted mother, Hélène Bédard (née Verrier) passed away after a short battle with cancer. Mom was born in Aubigny, MB on February 4, 1927 and moved with her family to La Broquerie at the age of two where she spent her entire life. After exactly 86 years, how special a birthday is the gift of eternal life... The family is so grateful for the wonderful memories of our beloved Mom, "Mémèrez", "Nen" and "Ma-tante". Her home was always so welcoming with the aroma of fresh bread, homemade "Mémèrez soups" and her chocolate cake. Her legacy of culinary skills will live on within the entire family. She was a caring soul, compassionate, and we all admired her quiet strength. "Mémèrez" was truly an angel on earth with her selflessness, generosity, nurturing and gracious nature. She is now home greeted with open arms by Dad, Noé Bédard, grandchildren Shelly Stelmack, Eric Bédard and great-grandson Dawson Nadeau. She was also predeceased by parents Maria (née Fisette) and Joseph Wilbrod Verrier, her brothers, Edmond, Eugène, Joseph and her sisters Marguerite Laurin, Thérèse Richard and Alice Fournier. Mom will be sadly missed by her children Denise (Jacques Tessier), Doris (Danny Stelmack), Raymond (Linda Johnson), Anne (Alain Nadeau) and Albert (Monique); 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mom also leaves to mourn her brothers Paul and Pierre (Rita), her sisters Yvonne Gosselin, Marie Duclos, Cécile Arnal, Pauline Piché, Claudette Bisson (Léandre), Rita Boulet and sisters-in-law Simone and Solange. She also leaves behind numerous beloved nieces and nephews of the Verrier and Bédard relatives. "To have had her in our lives was an honour and a blessing." Special thanks to Ste. Anne Hospital staff and Dr. DeMoissac for their excellent care and compassion and Sr. Rioux for her friendship and prayers. Funeral services will be held at St. Joachim Roman Catholic Church in La Broquerie on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the parish cemetery. Arrangements by BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 1-204-346-1030 OR 1-888-454-1030
