DAKOTA WILLIAM HALCROW "Standing Strong Buffalo Man" September 23, 2000 - February 5, 2013 In Loving Memory Our beloved Dakota passed away on Tuesday morning, February 5, 2013, at the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg, after a four year battle with cancer. His mother, Cassandra, sister Rayonna, cousins Ashley, Felicia, special friend Jolene, and the recent caregivers were by his side. Dakota was born in Winnipeg, as a child he loved building things with Bionicles. He wanted to play football He was able to attend a Jets game in 2010. He was so happy to see his face come up on the Jumbo-Tron for all to see. He liked playing video games; he enjoyed playing his drums during his stay in the hospital. His favourite food was jumbo shrimp, and wonton soup. Dakota was very active and enjoyed the outdoors. Dakota was a loving and happy child. He was a kind, compassionate, spirited young child. He had a strong spirit to be able to endure everything he went through during his life. He was diagnosed with cancer four years ago when he was living in The Pas, MB. He was in the care of his grandmother when the family had to relocate to Winnipeg for cancer treatment. Through all the treatments and lengthy hospital stays, he still had a humorous attitude, and liked to make people laugh. He always joked with his dear friend Jolene. She was very special to him. He said to her "this may sound weird but from the third time we met I considered you as family". Dakota is loved and will be greatly missed and cherished forever in memory.
