MAY IRENE BROWN May passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 92 years. May was born in Lily Bay, Manitoba but grew up on Muriel Street in Winnipeg. She worked for Eaton's Cafeteria and also took care of her grandparents and her parents until their deaths. She dedicated her life to her parents and grandparents. She was highly independent, she got her driver's license, a car and took a general car maintenance course when she was 50. She was an avid curler and loved her garden. Many of her neighbours were sad to see her leave when she moved into an apartment. May was predeceased by her parents Alice and William, sister Ruth Roberts and twin brothers Robert and Edward Brown. She is survived by many nieces and nephews in England that she remained in contact with, second cousin Brenda Ford and her children, Brittany Spence and Thomas Nelson Tibble. Special Thanks to Brittany Spence who helped care for and visited with May. May especially enjoyed the visits when Brittany would bring her son Owen. Special Thanks to Susan Mottram for remembering May and her consistent correspondence. Special Thanks to the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge, especially her companion Pat and Wendy Southall, head nurse. May will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, with her parents on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Please meet at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 2:50 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in May's memory may be made to Osteoperosis Canada, Manitoba Chapter.
