PATRICIA MARY BALL (nee CHATWIN) June 8, 1926 February 7, 2013 Peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2013, Patricia Ball passed away at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Pat will be lovingly remembered by her children Ruth (Trevor), George (Lori) and Mary (Mario), her grandchildren Thomas (Becky), Bethany (Shane), Kristin (Mickey), Jodi, Jamie, Wendy and Laura (Mark), and her great-grandchildren Payton, Malin, Benjamin, Nathan, Hayley, Carly and Jackson. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, her mother and father, Alma and George and her sister, Joan. For over 40 years Pat worked as an administrative assistant at Standard Aero Ltd. in Winnipeg. Many friendships made at Standard Aero Ltd. lasted well past the 40 years. To recognize her love and dedication to the sport of figure skating in Manitoba, Patricia was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 as a builder. The Manitoba Grassroots Bursary was also a beneficiary of Pat's devotion to the sport. Figure skating's history in Manitoba was painstakingly compiled by Patricia after she retired from Standard Aero Ltd. From the early years of her life through her last days, Patricia treasured the family cottage at Victoria Beach; a symbol of the family's connection to one another and to their past. It will continue to be the family gathering place and the keeper of the family's most fond memories. Thank you to the staff on the 2nd Floor of Victoria General Hospital who provided much comfort and support in her final days. A Celebration of Patricia's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation www.terryfox.org in memory of Patricia M. Ball. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
