Summers were always spent in Gimli at the cottage in Loni Beach, which was their other community full of friendships and fun times. An ardent debater and competitive gamesman, Terry enjoyed any challenge that involved a sport, a board game or deck of cards. Terry grew up in Gimli, Manitoba and enjoyed having a role in the cultural life of the town he adored. In 1979 and 1980 he was the President of the Icelandic Festival of Manitoba. Proud of his grandfather and father before him, Terry maintained an interest in the family business, H.P. Tergesen & Sons, General Merchant. We remember fondly Terry's contibution to life in "Wildwood Park" and often tell the story of the night that he brought dandelion wine to the moccasin dance. • Terry was more than a ray of sunshine, he was a star as bright as Sirius in a winter's sky. Terry was always right in any political argument. It has taken another 20-years for that to sink in. He was a wonderful asset to the community whether building a club or celebrating events. His dandelion wine brought home to some residents the hazard of colourless, tasteless but potent Icelandic brews. It it with love that I recall our family gatherings.
