KATHLEEN WOLOWIEC Kaye passed away peacefully on February 13, 2013 with her family close by. Kaye was born on August 3, 1920. Her birth certificate says August 5, 1920 because it took her father two days to walk to register the birth, illustrating just how long ago that event took place and how much of life she experienced and enjoyed. Kaye was a woman of faith and loved the Lord. We know that she is in heaven with Jesus in the arms of the angels. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Mom was very opinionated but all of her opinions were based on love. She had many accomplishments in life but her greatest joy was in her children who are left to mourn her passing, Debbie (Alvin) Radtke and Terry (Nancy and Alex) Wolowiec. Kaye had always dreamed of travelling and in 1980, after forging forward on her own, she went back to school to become a travel agent. She worked at Age and Opportunity until 1988 when she opened her own tour company, KW Tours. She travelled around the globe and loved to take many seniors on their first trips overseas or to the Casino in the U.S. Before becoming a travel agent, she worked with dad at Academy, Radio and TV for 30 years. This job involved interacting with customers, fixing small appliances and everything in between. Kaye was also President of Ladies Auxiliary at Broadway Optimist, Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge, Olive Branch, No. 1 and Club President of Toastmistress International of Portage Trail, Silver Heights Branch. She was a Winnipeg Business Club Member and the International President from Australia presented her with the club insignia. It was presented by Pearl McGonigle. Mom also spent many years spending weekends at the cottage in Lac du Bonnet. The great thing about mom was that she could lead a conga line around the cottage, dance a lively polka or host an authentic Hawaiian party. Mom loved to have fun but also loved to touch lives as best as she could. Many thanks to the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge where Mom lived for the past few years. They treated her like family and she felt like it was home. Heroes come in various forms in life, whether they make great sports plays, fight for freedom or look after the elderly with immeasurable love, compassion and respect. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg. Donations can be made to Golden West Centennial Lodge, 511 School Road in memoriam. Mom's life here on earth may be over, but her legacy continues on in her children and in each and every person's life that she touched. Missed but never forgotten. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Mrs. Wolowiec always opened her home to the university kids giving us a place to gather, party, and be safe, She was always proud of her children and their accomplishments. She had a wonderful sense of humour that put us all at ease. I always get a smile on my face when I think of her! The chat we would have and I realize how lucky I was to have known her. I send my deepest sympathies to her loving family. - Posted by: Dawn Turner (Family friend) on: Feb 19, 2013
