DONALD IRVINE THOMSON 1928 2013 It is with deep sadness that I announce the peaceful passing of Donald Thomson on February 13, 2013, at Red River Place in Selkirk, at the age of 84. Don was born and raised in Morris, MB to James and Agnes Thomson on October 20, 1928, being the seventh of eight children. In 1948 Don began working with the Railroad in Morris for two years. In 1950 he started working for the Manitoba Telephone System in Morris, then transferred to Stonewall, MB, retiring in 1987. Don was predeceased by his parents; brothers Jim, Bill, and Murray; sisters Sadie, Alexia and Joyce, and his first wife. Left to sadly mourn his passing is his loving wife Carole (nee Wells); sister Mable Jorgenson in Orangeville, ON; sister-in-law Pat Irwin in Calgary, AB; brother-in-law Len Jorgenson of Winnipeg; three children Scott, Robert and Gayle; two stepsons Randy and Laurie Newcombe; eight grandchildren; three great- grandsons; plus many nieces and nephews. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the staff at Red River Place for their kindness, care and compassion toward Don. As per Don's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A gathering of family will take place at a later date.
