MILDRED ANNE MOORE 1927 - 2013 It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Anne Moore. Anne passed away peacefully on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by John, her husband of 61 years, and her children Geoff (Nancy), Tracy (Chas), Nancy, Pam (Steve) and grandchildren, Crystal, Suzanne, Kate, Neal, Megan and Erin. Anne was born in Winnipeg on June 30, 1927 and grew up in the West end. From a young age Anne was an avid athlete, and her fascination with all sports led to many lively discussions and debates. Canadian athletes and teams in particular held a special place in her heart. Anne and John were married in 1952, and started their family soon after. When the children were young, the family moved to Toronto for a short time, but Anne's skill as a homemaker and hostess paved the way for many great and lasting friendships regardless of where they lived. Anne had a deep love of many things, including CBC radio, books, gardening, strolling through Assiniboine Park with Alf The Wonder Dog, and vacationing with John in Maui, Hawaii. In her spare time, Anne was active in the Westminster United Church, and a long time member of the Wildewood Club, where she served on many committees. Anne possessed a sharp mind and a quick wit, and when finally given the chance to pursue post-secondary education at the University of Winnipeg later in life, she excelled. She was endlessly inquisitive about the world around her, and had an opinion on most things. She had a love of life, an indomitable spirit, and her presence will be greatly missed by those lucky enough to have known her. The family would like to extend deepest thanks to the staff of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Health Sciences Centre for their tremendous care, compassion and understanding. Please join us in a celebration of Anne's life on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westminster United Church, 745 Westminster Ave. Service officiated by Rev. Robert Campbell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Tracy, I am thinking of you and your family members at this sad time. There will be many wonderful memories of your mother that you will hold close to your heart for these early days and in the days to come to comfort you. Take care dear friend. - Posted by: Pamela Goulet (Friend of daughter Tracy) on: Feb 21, 2013

  • I was so saddened to hear of Anne's passing. I was fortunate to work for John and Anne in the 80's. I interviewed with her for a job I did not get, but she then informed me that she and John felt that I would fit in so well with the company that they created a position for me- a position I was very happy to fill for several years. Anne was many things ~ a mentor, a mother figure, a friend, and one of the very wittiest people I have ever met. She was always a lady - gracious, wise and kind, and often a wee bit mischevious! My most heartfelt condolences to all the family. - Posted by: Kristen Neilson (former employee) on: Feb 20, 2013

  • I never met Anne but I am fortunate to call her daughter Tracy a friend. I'd like to think that Tracy's wonderful personality, sharp mind, quick wit, sense of family and being a true friend in part was inherited from her wonderful mother. - Posted by: Marilyn Taylor (Friend of daughter Tracy) on: Feb 19, 2013

  • My deepest condolences to John and Family. My heart goes out to all of you. Anne was a wonderful friend and neighbor, many cups of coffee shared, serious conversations and of course a joke and lots of laughs and giggles. A lovely lady and she leaves many memories with family and me. God Bless You All today and always. - Posted by: Florane Anderson (neighbor from Westwood) on: Feb 19, 2013
