SIEGMUND GROSS June 5, 1929 February 17, 2013 Peacefully, with his family by his side, Sieg passed away Sunday at the age of 83 years. Sieg leaves his wife of 62 years Ada; children Arthur Gross and Jan Ash; Angela Gross; Evelyn Gross; Brigitte and Brian Dawson; Ralph Gross and Eleanor Gross; grandchildren Kate Gross, Mark and Andrea Lima and Elise (Taylor Burgess) and Bennett Dawson. He is also survived by his sisters Alice Petersen and Elfriede (Falk-Rainer) Henze; in-laws Erich and Helen Lange and Dave and Ursula Hitchcock, and seven nieces and nephews. Sieg was born in Poland, to Wilhelm and Marie Gross. The family was displaced to Germany after the Second World War, and he immigrated to Canada in 1950. Sieg settled in Winnipeg, and began his career in construction trade. Siggy was well known and respected in the home building industry, and oversaw the construction of hundreds of homes in Winnipeg. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family and served his Lord faithfully. Sieg's volunteer commitments were extensive, at the German Baptist Mission Church, Lake Nutimik Baptist Camp and Meadowood Manor. He was much loved for his sense of humour, keen intelligence, and open-hearted approach to everyone. Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue, Winnipeg, with burial at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meadowood Manor Foundation or Camp Nutimik.
