Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENNIS SHYMKIW May 9, 1943 - February 18, 2013 It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Dennis Shymkiw on February 18, 2013. Dennis is survived by his wife Joan, son Robert, daughter Jaylene and grandchildren Ashley (Scott), Nicholas, Brittany, Allyssa, Carly as well as his brother Eugene (Sally) and extended family and friends. Dennis was predeceased by his daughter Sheryl, sister Margaret and parents John and Anne. Dennis enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Leisure Falls, as well as countless hours in his garden. He took great pride and joy in his numerous tropical fish tanks and never missed an opportunity to show off his beautiful fish. We would like to give a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre along with his dedicated homecare professionals for their wonderful care and support. As per his wishes there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at South Transcona Community Centre, 124 Borden Ave, Winnipeg, MB. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044

Joan - I don't know if you will even remember me as I think the last time (and first I think) was at Grandma Tkach's funeral - around 1973. I am Aunty Olga's youngest daughter. Eugene will remember me I'm sure as I saw him in 2000 when we both were visiting my mom in the hospital. Dennis and I spend our summers together when we were kids - he was 3 days older than me and never let me forget it. Distance made it impossible to see each other - we needed computers back then!! I found out a cousin on the Kiel side had passed away and decided to see if Aunty Anne was still living - so it was quite a shock to see Dennis's name.
