RONALD (RON) LAWRENCE CONNORS April 19, 1938 - February 21, 2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Husband, Dad and Grandpa (Papa), Ron, surrounded by the love of his family. He is predeceased by his parents, Maxine and Fred Connors, and his father-in-law, Michael Senko. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 49 years, Marilyn, his four children: daughter Cindy Skulsky (Randy) and granddaughters Haelyn and Paige; son Paul Connors (Ruth) and grandchildren Declan and Delaney; daughter Lauren Jane Martinez (Armando) and granddaughters Athena, Tausha and Jewel; and daughter Lynsey Polci (Greg) and granddaughter Genevra. He also leaves his mother-in-law Pauline Senko, and sisters-in-law, Marcie McLean (Gord), Kathy McDonald (Kenn), nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous good friends- including his best friend Charlie Zelenitsky. Ron attended Daniel McIntyre High School and graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba. Ron married the love of his life, Marilyn Senko, in 1963 and together they built a loving home in Sandy Hook, Manitoba. Ron owned McGregor's Drugstore in Winnipeg Beach and Riverton for more than thirty-five years, developing friendships with numerous customers over the years. Ron always had a passion for life and adventure. From racing canoes and joining the Winnipeg Canoe Club, to riding his Indian motorcycle, and obtaining his pilot's license in his youth- he lived life to the fullest. Later on, he was thrilled to cruise in his green 77 Porsche, fly to George Lake for his annual fishing trips, target shoot at Charlie's Farm, join hunting excursions with the guys and go skijoring with his huskies, Shaman and Echo. Ron also treasured time with his family at the lake-front cottage he built with his Dad at Nutimik Lake. Bonfires, hiking, canoeing, fishing, biking and beach days filled our summers. Cross-country skiing, ski-dooing, and post- sauna snow jumps filled our winters. Ron's unique sense of humour always kept us smiling. He also maintained active social ties in Winnipeg as a member of the Manitoba Club, President of the German Wine Society, and a season ticket holder of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Manitoba Theatre Centre and Opera. Although he traveled the world with Marilyn, the family home in Sandy Hook was Ron's castle. Family meant everything to him. He proudly attended countless hockey games, recitals, concerts, graduations and family celebrations. "We have been so blessed to have had you and will miss you everyday. Love you so so much, too too much- always and forever." We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Home Care, Dr. Pacin and all of the staff on 4N, Victoria Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness. A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation in Ron's memory. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Ron was a dear friend for many years and I have the fondest memories of all the fun times we shared. He had this quirky wit about him and we enjoyed our joking around a lot. We shared wine together laughter together story telling together and friends together. I was proud that he wanted me to be god-father to his 1st born daughter Cindy. Although living for many years in different parts of Canada we always kept in touch; thats what true friends do. I miss Rons voice but I will always remember his smiling face.
