Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRITA MARIE SIMONE RIEGER (nee RIEL) March 25, 1924 - February 25, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, parents Maxim and Adele Riel, brothers David and Joseph and sisters Mina and Yvonne. Left; to mourn her passing are her sons Garry (Linda), Brian (Linda May), Keith (Audrey) grandchildren, Ryan (Christina), Kari (Leah), Jennifer, Tammy (Karroll), Damien (Mandy), great-grandchildren, Gibson, Jewel, Jackson, Bennett, Ava, Kavin and Jordan; brothers and sisters Origene (Joyce), Doris, Anita, Allan (Wendy), Claudette and extended relatives. Rita was born in Winnipeg where she met and married the love of her life Joe. They lived in East Kildonan for over 40 years where they raised their three sons. Rita was a professional seamstress at Western Glove Works until she retired. Her love of sewing went beyond her career; she was always on top of the latest fashions. Rita sewed her boys' clothes and all her dresses (she had a lot of dresses!). It is hard to say what Rita's family enjoyed more, her quick wit and fantastic sense of humour or her incredible cooking and baking skills. She is famous for her tourtière, cabbage rolls, banana cream pies and cream puffs. Rita and Joe loved to entertain, for many years their family came for Happy Hour every Friday night. In their retirement Rita and Joe enjoyed Church bingo, shopping, frequent trips across the line, gardening and watching sports especially the Blue Jays games. The family would like to thank the staff of Bethania Personal Care Home for their loving care. Funeral mass will be held Friday, March 1 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church, corner of Munroe and Brazier. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Osteoporosis Society of Canada 204-772-3498. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

Brian, Garry / Lynne and Keithy: My sincere condolences on your Mom's passing. My thoughts of her are very fond as she was a loving, special lady. I have many happy memories of sharing time with all of you and Rita and Joe around the kitchen table. If we were lucky, she'd have made gullereye (sp?) (I still have the recipe.) My best to all of you at this sad time, Elaine - Posted by: Elaine Harman-Wawrin () on: Feb 27, 2013
