Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA EDITH ELLIS (nee MCBAIN) Peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2013 in her 92nd year. Mom was predeceased by her parents Edith and Hugh McBain; sisters Margaret Adshead and Audrey Jeffs as well as her husband of 63 years Jack. Mom made many lifelong friends while she and Jack owned their small business, the Carlaw Grocery. She enjoyed the Christmas rush as a parttimer at Canada Post. Jack could never get her to ride a bike or drive but she did become a Hockey Night in Canada fan. Barb saw the the bright side in her many health challenges even when we didn't laugh at her jokes. Many hours were devoted as a volunteer at Crescentwood Community Centre and she remained active in the Harrow United Church ladies auxiliary well into her later years. She was never too busy to help a friend or neighbour. "She was our Rock our Treasure and our Safe Haven" Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 28 from 7:00 -8:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn. Funeral Service will follow on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, with interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your church or favourite charity. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Grandma Ellis was a truly kind, generous, funny, and loving person who I will miss. We did not have the chance to spend a lot of time together in our lifetimes, but the unconditional love that was extended to me by her and Grandpa and the rest of our family is something I will never forget and which I will forever pay forward. My love and thoughts are with Dad, Hugh, Susan, Ruth and the rest of our family at this time. I love you all. RIP Grandma and thank you for everything. Love, J. - Posted by: Jayson McDonald (Grandson) on: Feb 28, 2013

Barb was my Mum's lifelong best friend. I have many fond memories of the Ellis/Fraser get togethers. Barb had a very good sense of humour and there was always laughter when she was around. I regret I cannot attend her service but my thoughts and prayers will be with Barb and her family. - Posted by: Cheryl Davis (friend of the family) on: Feb 28, 2013
