GILBERT PRESCOTT
Date of Passing: Feb 25, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGILBERT PRESCOTT It is with a profound sense of loss that the family of Gilbert Prescott announces the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved husband and father on Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Boniface Hospital. Gilbert will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Pearl and his four children, Jonathan, Christopher, Jordan and Lindsay (Aaron Mann). Dad was overjoyed by the recent arrival of his first and precious grandchild, Emily, who immediately and adoringly became the apple of his eye. The funeral mass will be held at the St. Boniface Cathedral on Saturday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will take place at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment to follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gilbert's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Gilbert as we sat on the CUPE 3754 executive board for many years. Gilbert was passioned by listening, supporting and defending all employees. His sense of humour, his president expertise and his devotion to all will be missed. May you rejoice with your saviour Gilbert. To Pearl and family members, may you be comforted by knowning you do not walk alone. It was a blessing to have known Gilbert. - Posted by: Lucette Sabourin () on: Mar 03, 2013

We ran into Gil at Tim Hortons ( of course!) at the beginning of January and had a wonderful talk with him. He was so proud of his family, and spoke so lovingly of his little granddaughter Emily! We are so glad we had this little time with him, and our hearts go out to Lindsay and family. I know his spirit will live on in his children. To my dear old pal Gilbert. Thank you for all the good times we shared. These life long memories are with me always, many which make me chuckle and some laugh outloud. Even though there were miles between us in distance, you were and will continue to always be close to my heart. Safe journey my friend. Until we see each other again... Stay out of trouble! I loved Gil like an older brother. I babysat the boys for a couple of years when I was a teenager. Gil had so much respect for kids. I always felt like I mattered, like I had something to say. Gil always spoke to me like I had a good head on my shoulders. I felt so welcome in his and Pearl's home. I remember when he let play his reel-to-reel one Saturday evening while babysitting. He had shown me how to use it. I was so excited! He had the best collection of rock music on his reel-to-reel. Thanks for the great memories. Thanks for making me feel like I was an important person at a very vulnerable time. All my love to Pearl and the kids. - Posted by: Louise Dandeneau (Babysitter) on: Mar 01, 2013

My profound condolences for your loss, Pearl and family.I grew up with Gil across the street on rue De La Morenie in St Boniface.I enjoyed the many hours we would spend sitting and talking on the Prescott steps in the summer, and in addition to playing football in the street.I also remember his amazing orator skills that he had winning many public speaking contests both at Louis Riel and provincially.RIP Gil - Posted by: Brian Tascona (Friend) on: Mar 01, 2013
