Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS EMILIE HEMMERLING (nee CHASTAGNER) Peacefully and comfortably with her children at her side, Mom passed away at the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the age of 86 years. Mom was predeceased by her parents and her two brothers. Also her beloved husband Peter in 1996, and her beloved daughter Bonnie in 2011. Left to cherish her memory is her son Grant (Karen), daughter Leila (Cliff) Paulus; sister Julie Corrigan (Sooke B.C.), and sadly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom was born on May 3, 1926, in Wampum, MB, where she grew up with her brothers and sister on the farm. After leaving the farm and working at various jobs in NorthWest Ontario, Mom moved to Winnipeg in the late 1940s. Mom met and married Dad in 1949. Together they built a home and raised their family in Rivercrest, MB. Mom and Dad enjoyed building their retirement home in Lockport. Mom always enjoyed working in her gardens. She loved cooking and baking for her family. Mom enjoyed creating crafts and sharing her talents with her grandchildren. Mom was very involved with her grandchildren and proud of their endeavours and successes. In later years, Mom moved to North Kildonan where she made many new friends including two special friends Hedy and Phyllis who stood by her right to the end. Mom remained proudly independent until her final admission to the hospital. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. , West St Paul, MB. Interment and reception to follow. The family extents heart felt gratitude to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit nurses, HCA's, student nurses, volunteers, housekeeping staff and Dr. McClure . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
