LOIS MARGARET PIRT (nee SINCLAIR) March 30, 1926 - March 7, 2013 With sadness we announce the passing of our mother Lois Pirt. Born in Etonia, Saskatchewan, she spent her childhood in Kamsack before moving to Winnipeg where she studied and made a career of nursing. Lois spent most of her adult life in St. James, where she made the friendships that continued until her passing. A little cabana at Twin Lakes beach brought her joy and a place for her family to gather. She always looked forward to organizing and participating in her nursing reunion every five years. Until his passing, Lois enjoyed the special friendship of Jim Tease, whom she had originally met in her student days. Lois is survived by her siblings Bob (Sheila) Sinclair and Vera MacLean, as well as by her sons Rob (Cindy) and Murray (Kari) and grandchildren Erin (Andrew), Joel (Alyssa), Lindsay, and Jason. Lois was predeceased by her oldest son Gordon on January 5 of this year. Born with special needs, Gord was her purpose and her reason. A brief service, followed by a reception, will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Thursday, March 14, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnserv Inc. in support of those with special needs. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • We met Lois and her family 45 years ago, just prior to our marriage. We thought so very highly of her, and when we left a year later to teach in the NWT, she baked us a farewell cake that said: "Happy mushing". So sad to hear of her passing; she was an angel. - Posted by: Bob and Christine Scott (Friends) on: Jul 30, 2013

  • I have the utmost respect and admiration for Mrs. Pirt. She was a fantastic mother to Gord and a great friend of mine. We shared some great laughs and conversations together. She will be deeply missed. - Posted by: Rob McDonald (Friend) on: Mar 13, 2013

  • My best friend Lois will never be forgotten. It is so hard to say goodbye to such a beautiful caring compassionate & loyal friend. I share in your grief & please accept my deepest sympathy. Know how proud she was of her family & all the joy you brought into her life. - Posted by: Vera (Klump) Ash (Friend) on: Mar 13, 2013

  • Growing up on Winston Rd. Mrs. Pirt was the kind of neighbor you always hope to have. She and my mom (Kay Stewart) were close chums and coffee buddies whose friendship continued even after leaving "the hood ". When I was 10, I put a big nail right through my foot. My mom fainted, and Mrs. Pirt ended up taking care of both of us. She was a blessing in my childhood that I am grateful for and my mom (who has passed) will be thrilled to see her again. - Posted by: James Stewart (next door neighbour on Winston Rd.) on: Mar 12, 2013

  • Lois will always be with us - Posted by: Robert & Sheila Sinclair (Brother & Sisterinlaw) on: Mar 12, 2013
